Hello,

We got the following error on one of our NT 4.0 servers:
"System Process - Low on Registry Quota: Your system is running low on registry quota. Start the System option in the Control Panel and choose the Virtual Memory button to increase the registry quota."
What do you think the solution to this problem is? Thank you for any info or advice.

Have you tried increasing the Virtual Memory in The system panel ?

In your average machine you often also have the option to change the size the registry can grow to, I don't have an NT4 server to hand to check but there may well be an option next to the Virtual memory settings that you can increase too.

The current registry size is 45 MB and we've increased the maximum to 150MB but still doesn't help. Is there something else that needs to be done? Please help! Thank you.

Just a query to make sure you are looking at the Registry Quota window under the Virtual Memory window.....

You need to change the registry QUOTA under the Properties of the System, not the Virtual Memory amount. The registry quota will probably be set to 16MB or something...change it to 24MB.....To have it set to 150MB seems too high.

Thank you all for helping.

Bradje, I've checked and it was the virtual memory that I increased. The registry is 45mb and I know it's quite large. I read the article zoeythecat suggested and its work-around is:
"On Windows NT 4.0 systems, in Performance Monitor, 'Percent Registry size used counter' under the System object can be used to monitor this setting. The rule of thumb to follow is to double the current registry size, and add 20 percent to that value." I'll try that when I get a chance to.
