yes you can upgrade to 4.0 on the 2k server. Gentran has been supported on win 2k since 3.01.

I assume that you are either on Gentran 3.2 sp1 or 4.0. If so then contact Sterling Commerce Customer support and they have some hot fixes that address hang issues
