System: SQL Server 2000
I am using the SQL Server ODBC driver provided with Windows.

The INSERT statements execute perfectly BUT it takes an inordinate amount of time. We have a great server and plenty of good hardware.

Is there anything I can do to improve the performance of the INSERT via ODBC?????

ANY ideas are greatly appreciated!!
thanks.

First, is the insert just as slow when you do it from query analyzer? This will tell you if the problem is in the insert or the connection.

It depends on what you are trying to insert and how you database is set up as to what would improve performance. YOu could have a network problem or a firefwall problem or be processing toomany records in one batch or have a poorly deisnged sql statment or have triggers which invoke other triggers on other tables or even have a trigger which breaks becasue it was desifgned fo rsingle record inserts and this is a multiple insert. All sorts of things could be the problem. Would need much more information to adequately help you.

Check to make sure that ODBC tracing isnt turned on.
