Thanks for your suggestion jazzgirl - sorry about the delay in replying I've been on leave. Yes I've tried just using the Microsoft driver which uses the tablet as a mouse but I have the same problem and the jittering is significantly worse. I have been in touch with Wacom Europe support who...
I have a WACOM Bamboo Fun CTE450 tablet which intermittently looses registration with the monitor ie the cursor on the screen is not in the same place as the pen on the tablet. It works fine on my Macbook pro, my wife's Vista laptop and another windows desktop running XP, but the desktop I need...
Machine B now fixed - one IDE cable was old 40 way. Changed to 80 way and DVD now writing OK. Had to update firmware in drive and change from Ashampoo 6 to Nero 7 supplied with the drive to get reliable results. (Ashampoo appeared to write the DVD ok and verified OK but none of my 4 drives could...
Nero is version 7 as supplied with the LG drive.Problem also occurs with Ashampoo Burning 6. IMAP service is set to manual. Cable has been transferred from earlier systems so possibly not ATA33 will check.
Thanks
Thanks, it also occurs to me that the DVD drives I am having problems with are both multi format double layer recent spec. The one that works OK is a fairly old single layer. Could there be a driver problem with XP. Not sure how to check for latest XP drivers.
Thanks Cdogg. Machine A is AMD 1.4Gb processor with 0.5Gb ram and 2 EIDE discs. Machine B is Intel dual core 1.8Gb with 1GB ram.SATA system disc and 2 EIDE disks. Both run Photoshop mainly. Machine B also runs Ulead Studio 10. Both have AVG free which would be running during DVD writing...
I have 2 XP machines exhibiting the following identical problem with DVD writers. I can read CDs and DVDs. I can write on RW discs or RAM discs but normal -R DVDs fail after about 6% of typically 3GB transfer. I have used 4 different suppliers blank DVDs with the same result.
Machine A has XP...
XP is currently on the 20 GB D drive and working fine but very short of space for CD copying etc. Thanks for the suggestion about the usb external drive. I don't think my bios will see it. Perhaps I'll stick a DVD writer in and ghost to it to avoid a system rebuild.
Thanks PRPhx I have a fully working system now and a copy of Ghost to provide an image of the current XP and applications. I intended to put an image of this onto an external usb drive (I don't have a DVD writer on this machine) then restore it back onto the new 300GB. Just not sure how to get...
Thanks vacunita - I should have thought of that! Just waiting for a quiet slot to get on with it. I'm still not sure about getting the contents of the old drive securely onto the new 300gb. Having got the new drive partitioned etc I still have no working Windows to use Ghost etc. I suppose the...
I have W2K on my C drive (3GB)of 40GB (rest used for data) and XP prof on my D drive (12GB). C is the active primary and D is also a primary. The D drive is a physical drive of 20GB with another partition containing applications.
I am rapidly running out of space on the 20GB drive and I want to...
Thanks for your suggestion I have done as you say but left off the old inbox contents - I can do without the few mail messages in there and I can also do without the hassle if the corruption transfers. Up and running again. Thanks again.
Windows XP with Office 2003
I had a crash when downloading large mail items from the pop server. The result is that now when I try to open the inbox Outlook just hangs. All the other folders are OK. I guess I have an inbox corruption and I have run scanpst.exe which said it found errors and...
Thanks Ski, tried disconnecting all other USB devices but no success. Have also checked with MB docs and 1.1 is available on all sockets. However I have just discovered that although XP will not recognise an SD card used in my Palm (32MB) or Canon 750 camera (512MB), giving the error report in...
I have been struggling to install a simple USB 1.1 Integral Secure Digital card reader.
The reader installs OK on XP but I am unable to read data -the light flashes but XP does not seem to be able to make any sense of the data and I get a message "The request could not be performed because of an...
OK all clear. Manually removed the Registry keys to disable the virus so I could run NAV then latest defs from Symantec cleared it out.
Thanks again
John
I have installed Norton 2004 OK but it wont start. Have checked with the Norton site and the virus W32.HLLW.DONK.L is detected on the machine. The fix from Symantec is to download the latest def files and run a scan to clear it. I have downloaded the file ok but Norton still wont start and...
OK start up problem solved - the usb drivers for motherboard GA-7N400 pro were causing the problem if anything on the usb was switched on. Need update drivers but Gigabyte site pushes me off to Microsoft and I havent found the driver yet there. Still got the problem that I loose the CD drive...
