Hi
I am new to vbscript, and want my script to ask for a machine hostname, do a dsquery using this input, then display the result on screen.
From a command prompt I am using
"dsquery computer -name %hostname%" (replacing %hostname% with the machine hostname)
This returns the info I want.
My...
Thanks guys. We are actually running server 2003, but some of the cd images were originally created under 2000 Advanced Server and the reminst folder was ported over to the new setup. The version of risetup on server 2003 must be different enough to make the images fail. Strange that the cd...
Trying to restore systems using RIPREP image, I get this error message. "File usbehci.sys caused an unexpected error (21) at line 5882 in d:\xpclient\base\boot\setup\setup.c."
The RIPREP image was prepared on the machine this fails on. This occurs with ALL Windows XP RIPREP images on our RIS...
Yes you can. I assume the user is moving between Windows NT & 2k machines with a roaming profile? Log the user off any other machines. Change the user profile on the laptop to local profile, log off then on again. Browse to the profiles folder on network and delete the .tmp.tmp...... files.
Did you originally set-up the old pc's with the same admin account? If not, Windows sometimes has problems with access rights. If the user account has different access rights, this can happen.
Easiest fix, is to delete old computers from Active Directory Users and Computers, and add new...
I've had this problem before. I found that if you
1. Remove the machine from the domain, then delete the domain account for the machine in server manager
2. Delete the TCP/IP stack from network properties.
3. Reboot
4. Re-install TCP/IP
5. Rejoin the domain, if possible using the same account...
Are the NIC's 'Intel pro 100/100VE' onboard cards? If so, we have had the same problem in the past. We order new Dells with additional 3-com cards installed, then diable the onboard ones. We also re-load every new Dell machine prior to connecting to our network. We have found that the Dell...
R U using roaming profiles? If so check the permissions on your profiles folder. It looks like the XP machines are trying to write to a read-only resource.
This is often caused by good old msn messenger. If you log on to a Win 2k box, then revert to NT4, this can happen.
Search HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run
as well as
HKEY_LOCAL_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run
and all the users under
HKEY_USERS...
This may seem like an obvious question. When you shared the folders, did you give permissions to network users, or local users on the XP clients? (Assuming you have an NT domain set-up that is.) Otherwise you will need to grant access to each user on each XP client.
One way around this limitation, is to back-up the partition using Ghost, or similar; Then load the image back to your new disk. The image should use the full partition size available. (No more than 6Gb for stability)
NB Make sure your service pack is up to date before you start.
