    Smart Array 221 in proliant 800 ?

Also, in case you need the info, here's a link to the specs on the 221... http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/10265_na/10265_na.html

Installing W2K on a Proliant 3000 dual CPU Problem

It is unusual to see steppings so far off that the latest BIOS won't correct the issue. I had an 8500 with 8 CPUs at four different steppings that didn't work, but the BIOS update fixed it. Do you have the stepping revisions of the CPUs? I can do some checking and see if there is a known...

    Win 2K tape restore problem

I've run into a number of issues in the past using W2k's built-in backup software, which is why I stopped using it. As for it showing up as a drive letter, I haven't run into that issue before. Now I haven't tried it with SP3, so unless they are trying to provide a "drag and drop&quot...

    Smart Array 221 in proliant 800 ?

Wow - haven't seen a 221 in a while. As long as the drives are wide ultra2, you shouldn't have a problem. Even though Compaq won't offer warranty service for them anymore, the 221 is supported on the SmartStart CD still, so installing it should be no problem at all.

Compaq Proliant 3000 and HP NetRAID (AMI MegaRAID) with Windows 2000

It sounds like you could possibly (translation: this is a guess) have a cache handler problem on the NetRAID card. It could be that the cache is filling up and then having a hard time dumping it off to disk. You might want to try disabling cache acceleration.

    Proliant DL380G2 with RILOE card

We've gone through these things EXTENSIVELY... The problem is not really the network connection (we ran 100/Full on some really good switches to no avail), but the processor. Needless to say, setting the system to 800x600 at 256 colors helps, but it will still be sluggish. We've started...

Installing W2K on a Proliant 3000 dual CPU Problem

The last time I had that message, updating the system's BIOS solved the problem. You may want to give that a shot.

    event id 1008

We were running into this problem on a LOT of our servers. I wrote a script that replaces the necessary files to solve the problem. It seems to work most of the time. If anyone wants it, I'd be happy to send it out.

    Event 2009 - ML530 NT4.0

Cool - I'll keep an eye on the thread, so let me know how it goes and I'll see what I can do to help.

    6400r SCSI Boot Order

They sure used a lot of language to say "We put in too fancy of a feature"... :)

1600 can not boot but, cd-rom light flashes

Sounds like the NVRAM is corrupting... You did the best thing by leaving it off for an extended period. If you are still stuck and believe it is a component, let me know and I'll see if I can scare up some replacement components to try and help troubleshoot it. I've been there many a time...

    desperate compaq presario 56K-DF modem!!!!

You might want to try the desktop hardware forum...that being said, Compaq doesn't support that modem under anything but Win98 and Win95. However, the modem is a Lucent modem (which model, I don't know) and this link has the links to most of the Lucent drivers out there. You could do a little...

Proliant 4500 Fails to Power On

I would recommend against a third-part power supply...I'd look for a remanufactured Compaq one. The older Compaq servers were great, but notoriously finnicky about using their own parts. As for what is at fault, it does sound like the power supply. There isn't much else internal on those...

    Performance problem with gigabit cards

HeidarG is correct - what is likely happening is that the cards are negotiating to different speeds or duplexes, which can cause the problem you are having.

    Event 2009 - ML530 NT4.0

Did you try hyperthreading with the new Intel NIC, and did the same problem occur?

    6400r SCSI Boot Order

The only thing I can think of is that the card may be a little to "smart" for Compaq BIOS. Compaq's BIOS like to keep control of things (especially on their 2nd-from-top-of-the-line servers). You may want to try Compaq part # 154457-B21. (CDW link to product)...

1600 can not boot but, cd-rom light flashes

Here are the steps to follow. I had to do this more than once on our 1600s and DL380 G1s...be sure to follow all of the steps in order. 1. Unplug the server 2. Wait one minute 3. Plug in the server 4. Disconnect floppy and CD cables 5. Wipe the NVRAM 6. Start the server 7. Let it boot to an...

    Event 2009 - ML530 NT4.0

A 2009 error can actually be a bunch of things. (What? Microsoft give a non-specific error?? NOOOO!!!) Determining what the problem is will relate to the details in the error log. Microsoft has a half-way decent kb article on it...

    Secure use of CIM7

I'm trying to find a way to get CIM7 to work through a firewall that blocks SNMP. We can allow SMTP through the firewall, but we don't want to put a CIM7 server behind that firewall. Any thoughts on how to get those alerts through the firewall without opening SNMP? (Since SNMP v1 is WAAAAAAY...

    Adding hard drive.

Yes. We added three drives to the existing 3-drive RAID 5 array and expanded it then.
