I am running Windows 2000 Advanced Server on two clustered Compaq ML530's. In the application log in event viewer I keep getting the same error message daily at the same time.
The message is:

Perflib - Event ID 1008

Uninstall DNS and reinstall it. This fixed the problem for my Compaq servers.

I am also experiencing the same problem on my Compaq DL380 running Win2k and Active Directory. This error message appears several times a minute.

When you uninstalled and then reinstalled the DNS service, was this done on a server running Windows 2000 server with Active Directory?

Thanks for the information

Hello everyone. Check out these Microsoft Knowledge Base articles regarding the 1008. Q247226 Q226494 Q296187 Q300956 They will provide insight into the problem and a couple of possible fixes.

We were running into this problem on a LOT of our servers. I wrote a script that replaces the necessary files to solve the problem. It seems to work most of the time. If anyone wants it, I'd be happy to send it out.
