I am getting a smart array 221 raid controller and I am wondering if I am going to have problems putting it in a Proliant 800 that has a P3/550 processor and 4 non hot plug 18G scsi drives? My concern is that the controller is too old and may not work in the server? I can't find anything that says this on the compaq/HP website. Anyone know?

Wow - haven't seen a 221 in a while.

As long as the drives are wide ultra2, you shouldn't have a problem. Even though Compaq won't offer warranty service for them anymore, the 221 is supported on the SmartStart CD still, so installing it should be no problem at all.
