Use net use to delete all shared drive then use the net use to remap them but include user name info.

I would try to just hook up the phone line to the one modem that is suppose to pickup after 2 rings and see if it picks up, could be a issue with impedence of the 2 modems hooked up to the modem. Also check to be sure the modem is seeing the line ringing by looking at the AA led on the modem...
Okay here the deal user has Tif files that when they try to print the dang photo printing wizard pops up each time any way around this ?? is there a way to disable it or maybe do I have to re-associate the file type to another application ?

If the user is loging on to a Domain in the office it should cache (hmm did I spell that right) here passwords, so they can login to the domain when away.. not sure if thats what your asking since I did not have any more information on your network configuration.
Here is a idea but it kinda goes around the print server on a XP pro PC, Map the LPT port as you were in your post that will add the print driver to the XP box, next do not run a test page then goto ports add a TCP port with just the IP address of the Printer this should allow the user to print...
Okay here is what I found so far and seems to have resolved the issue to this day after many weeks of software re-deployment and re-install of Windows and all sorts of other things narrowed down the problem to Domino.doc and how it was installed by another group in our company caussing this...
Have you gone into Syetem Scan options and try to turn off Scan floppies on shutdown and see if that helps, Mcafee has had issue in the past hanging 9X boxes at shutdown too.

No sp1 when I did the in place repair , then I sp1 it to be sure that wouldn't magically fix it lol no luck but worth a try, problem with retore points is that that was turned off so no good points to return too but was a good idea.

Yeah I was hoping this was something I could do with out a fresh re-install but today we have recieved another user having this same issue, So guess I'll keep looking for a fix or call microsoft support here soon.
No just Windows Explorer, I even tried opening multiple Windows Explorer windows they all close at the same time as if some thing is killing the process, When I watch the Task Manager and processes it just goes away like it closed normaly. Also checked the Event Logs nothing there either.
Yes went a far as booting in safe mode with only network support and just a FYI using Mcafee, So it was running with no start up items and the problem continues...
Okay here is my problem XP pro, Windows Explorer will just close itself in like 1 mins if left on the screen sitting there or doing something inside of it. Already did XP Repair from CD just to be sure nothing wierd there but problem still there any other thoughts anyone ?
