Hi,
I have a bit of a problem regarding receiving faxes using winfax on XP pro. I have two modems in the machine. One internal Win Modem jobbie that is only used to dial into a HSBC bank account, and another which is a US Robotics external fax modem. Both these modems are connected to the same phone line with a splitter. the problem is that the external US Robotics modem will not automatically pick up faxes after two rings like it is set up to. I have tried all other kinds of fax software but to no avail.

If any one needs any more details just ask, and if anyone knows a solution (if there is one) it would be greatly appreciated

cheers

Dan

I would try to just hook up the phone line to the one modem that is suppose to pickup after 2 rings and see if it picks up, could be a issue with impedence of the 2 modems hooked up to the modem. Also check to be sure the modem is seeing the line ringing by looking at the AA led on the modem since you said it was a external. If you rule out the modem then you know its software.Try some of these ideas and report back. Could just be the modem.. I would also try to just use terminal software (hyperterminal) force the modem to answer after 2 rings with a manual AT command.

Hi,
Thanks for that. The external modem works fine when its the only modem connected to the phone line. However when both modems are connected to the phone line it doesn't see the line ring. How would i go about forcing the modem to answer after 2 rings and would i only have to do this once?

Thanks again

Dan
