    figured it out. Kept missing the fact that I still had one filesystem mounted against the duplicate lv name. Once I woke up and unmounted that. I did a chlv -n newname oldname vi /etc/systems and changed the logname to a made-up name. did a lsvg -l vgname and was all set.

    netstat -v will give you plenty of information about your adapters. If you do netstat -v en0 | grep -i speed you will be able to tell what your current speed is.
