I can see my disks, found a switch in lpfc.conf that needed setting. Now that I am past that, I ran the powerpath commands looks ok. Now I trying to bring in more disks and cannot see the new ones, but can still see the existing. Woe is me.

Kept missing the fact that I still had one filesystem mounted against the duplicate lv name. Once I woke up and unmounted that. I did a chlv -n newname oldname
vi /etc/systems and changed the logname to a made-up name.

netstat -v will give you plenty of information about your adapters. If you do netstat -v en0 | grep -i speed
you will be able to tell what your current speed is.
make sure your sqlhosts file is set with sesoctcp as mentioned, also make sure that you have added the service to /etc/services
example:
/informix/etc/sqlhost
remote_db sesoctcp myhost sqlexecd
/etc/services
sqlexecd 1525/tcp
sqlexecd 1525/udp
