I worked out what is causing my initialization failure - it is because I had the initial size of the OFO Volume set to 5000Mb (which I am now assuming was too large for veritas to initialise). I reconfigured it to be only 1000Mb and it is now working fine. In fact it is working very well and...

Um...just thought I'd put my two cents in...Please oh please check your network hardware - NIC's Hubs etc. I had a file server which was perfectly visible to the network and which saw the rest of the network but any type of file copying resulted in a hung PC. I changed te NIC and it works fine...
