SuperStack II 3300XM - To Buy or Not To Buy

Oh no!!! I steered away from Netgear cos I wanted to go for a more known name. Cisco are way too expensive as my budget is really around £600 - £700 for a 24 Port 10/100 - or is there a cisco switch that you know of that fits the bill?

Normal Backup (reset archive bit) fails

Differential Backup is when new or changed files are backed up but the achive bit (which tells backup programs that the file has or has not been backed up) is left alone. This way next time you do a backup that look for changed files will still back these files up. Incremental backups backup...

SuperStack II 3300XM - To Buy or Not To Buy

Hullo all, After much thought I have realised it is time my humble network at work (which until now is running on D-Link Hubs) should move over to a switch. The catch is however, the bosses are not willing to spend too much money on a switch. After much looking I have come accross the 3Com...

Is Windows 2000 slower than Windows NT

Both the machines that are running W2K are 256 Megs of RAM and they are still slow. There is no disk thrashing or memory hogging. I think its cos they try to make it look so damn pretty that they sacrifice speed. Micsoft shmicrosoft...

Is Windows 2000 slower than Windows NT

Is it me or is this the case. I just installed Windows 2000 on two machines and even though everything is running ok it seems much slower than windows nt when file browsing over the network. We have a NT file server with all our production files on it (we are designers) and the Windows 2000...

OFO: Unknown error 0x5aa - please help

I worked out what is causing my initialization failure - it is because I had the initial size of the OFO Volume set to 5000Mb (which I am now assuming was too large for veritas to initialise). I reconfigured it to be only 1000Mb and it is now working fine. In fact it is working very well and...

    System is very slow

Um...just thought I'd put my two cents in...Please oh please check your network hardware - NIC's Hubs etc. I had a file server which was perfectly visible to the network and which saw the rest of the network but any type of file copying resulted in a hung PC. I changed te NIC and it works fine...
