Make sure you have a "cluster" group with only the cluster and IP of the cluster as resources. Create a separate group for each virtual server. For example you might have call the cluster by a department name and have virtual servers for "printers", "apps".... If...
We have about a dozen W2K Servers running SP3 with no problems so far (several months). No problems with the install either. There are still MS Security fixes to apply after the SP3 install. The HFNETCHK utility works great for checking that stuff out. We've installed it with SQL and CPQ...
Warning! Please read "Windows NT 4.0 Supports Maximum of 7.8-GB System Partition" http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;224526
It will cause problems later as the file system grows. We had issues when installing security patches (BSOD) on large partitions. There...
Thanks for the information.
MS looked through all of our logs and reg settings, including the cluster.log. They noticed that there are some different drivers on the nodes and suggest they be made the same.
Maybe you already know this but only the queues are created and shared on the...
I don't know of an automatic exporter, but there is a shareware program called Effective File Search that can search for files by size, creation, modification... and the results can be exported to a CSV file. This can help with reporting. Hope this helps a little.
We have a print cluster with a recurring problem (W2K Adv., SP2). On various printers (mostly HP and Tektronix) with different drivers, the queue will work fine for a while and then the queue will stall. There is no way that we can find to start it up again short of restarting the spooler...
Actually I'm running CIFS on a NetApp Filer and the directory I'm scanning is over 500GB. I found a utility on CNET called Effective File Search (shareware) that is working great. It can output to a CSV file for reporting. Thanks.

When searching for files, etc., in W2K, is there anyway to output the results to a text file or other useful format? Or is there a freebie utility that does this well? Thanks.
I seem to recall Veritas having some kind of patch available in relation to backups and Exchange but I don't remember what versions it applied to. Check their support site.
Yep it's me again. For Task Scheduler you probably want to use this in Windows versus cscript it DOS mode. This should be more than you ever wanted to know: <http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/nhp/Default.asp?contentid=28001169>
Here's a link I found about MS cscript:

Try using cscript.exe to run the VBS files. See if you have it in WINNT\System32. If not, you'll find it at MS. I've been using csript to run VBS files from the W2K Resource Kits. Hope this helps.
Yes. Download the Windows 2000 Professional Resource Kit from MS. It's got User and Server Manager for NT4 and a bunch of other useful utils. Good luck.
