We only deploy it via citrix so we only have the servers to update... OTherwise we would make sms installs that we'd push out to update that local installs...
We ONLY use native drivers to server 2003. If it's not there, we don't install it. First we map all the printer drivers to something else if we can find a compatible native driver... ie hp color laser 5500 to a 4500. If we don't find one that way, We use the Citrix Universal Printer and the...
We had this with one of the 9 clients (don't remember the specific version). It's fine on the latest client (10.1) and was also fine with 10.0. I believe 9.23 is where it was fixed for us....
Yes you either need to make the setting above or get one of the select few USB floppy drives that the windows set-up will take. You will not have this problem with Vista.
One other option is to slipstream the driver onto you windows set-up disc. The program n-lite is an easy way to do that...
You can try editing the path in the registry.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services]
You should see your service in there and what path it points to.
Check out this article. The bottom portion with the registry key is what you need to look at. Seeing as you have already identified the executable that seems to be hanging the session you should be ok. To verify that is the process hanging the session you can always right click on the session...
He should just have to do a printer mapping in the management console. That way you can leave the client driver as is for local printing and it will mount as printer driver X when the user prints from citrix.
Are you using native drivers on your citrix server? If not, you should be. Map the client's printer to a native 2003 printer driver and it should go away.
RIS would be the most cost effective as long as you have a server to spare and the space. It's a little more difficult to get going, but I really like it compared to other imaging solutions.
Otherwise go with sysprep with Ghost/Acronis and the like...
Also, make sure you have that directory structure in the original vanilla image, not the image you are trying to use. Confusing I know...
Are you getting any errors?
Try doing a screen shot (Alt + Print Screen) when the photo is on the screen. Paste it into an image editor (such as Paint) and crop out the portion you need...
Thanks guys. I've already used reg.exe to accomplish what I need. I was just hoping there was a way to do it with VBS script. The VBS script posted uses the reg command as well.
I'm trying to load the default user registry hive and import some settings into it.
Right now, I manually load the hive and then run my reg file to import the settings. Is there a way I can do this through VBS script?
Logically the VBS script would
LOAD HIVE
run the regedit file (regedit /s...
Keep in mind something like ERD Commander makes your password a moot point if someone physically has your machine. While you SHOULD do everything you can to prevent people from cracking into it, if they want in bad enough they will get in. Strong passwords and encrypting your important files...
Two things they can try... first, is hitting Ctrl+F1 (equivalent of Ctrl+Alt+Del, but for their citrix ) which brings up task manager for their citrix session.
second, right click the citrix icon in the system tray and go to "connection center". See if they can either "terminate" their app or...
