Extranet Client unable to connect to host

I'm not sure the Nortel client will work when your win2k server is doing NAT. Have you considered switching the config? Put the Nortel client on the win2k box - let it establish your VPN, then pick up something like winroute to be able to share that connection with the rest of your LAN.

Is it possible to use VPN to work as if on LAN - simply

Chris, I did as described... got the same error message you're getting and this is from an Win98SE box... treats it like it can't go across a router. Hrmmm... I'll let you know if I find anything else but the Windows folks would likely know best. Regards, Jim

VPN between 2 domains using 1 pc

Jonathan, Take a look at Winroute lite (www.winroute.com) a free 30 day trial is available. It will share the connection made by the Nortel client, nat your internal network, forward dns queries... Under the Settings tab, click "Settings" in the "Advanced Settings" frame...

Is it possible to use VPN to work as if on LAN - simply

I checked the Win2k forum FAQ... nothing there. Have you posted the question in that forum? I currently have a pair of Linux firewalls between my house and the office... a domain set up at the office.. the workgroup at the house is not defined with the same name. Tonight I'll change that and...

Is it possible to use VPN to work as if on LAN - simply

The fact that you can 'view' the remote machines at all leads me to think your VPN set up is fine. I've avoided XP so far so I can't speak to it's default behavior... have actually been removing XP from machines of late. It may be a policy issue at the remote domain - not allowing 'guest'...

Is it possible to use VPN to work as if on LAN - simply

Hey... I'm darn near bald after 20 years in this business. In my current config I have a RH 7.2 Linux box (desktop experiment) among my Win2k boxen. And we can make it participate on the domain via samba. But, if it's only handling your VPN connection then it's smb.conf shouldn't be part of...

Is it possible to use VPN to work as if on LAN - simply

My guess is that your workgroup names don't match. Find out what their workgroup/domain name is and set yours to match. Is your local box Win2k? Regards, Jim

    Printing Across VPN

Need details.... The remote printing shouldn't be a problem but it's hard to advise without details. Our setup is as follows.... 10.1.3.x <--- aDSL - IPSEC - 2mb fibre ---> 10.1.1.x The 10.1.3.x network sends print jobs to an HP Laserjet 4050 N (w/ Jetdirect) which resides at 10.1.1.250 on...

Is it possible to use VPN to work as if on LAN - simply

You don't mention what O/S or VPN solution you're using... but... You need the workgroup of your PC to match the workgroup of the target network. You probably have a "standard 'LAN like' connection", just having some trouble with the Windows concept of workgroups/domains... If...

    File Extentions

You're kidding right? You're running a Win2k Server and asking this question? 1) open a command window and rename the file, as in: C:\> rename filexxx.mix filexxx.mov 2) This doesn't do any magic.... it doesn't change the format or contents of the file. So unless you know the format of the...

    Small office switch (Vlan Support)

IMHO the Hewlett Packard Procurve switches are the best... should be able to find prices at www.insight.com (I'm not affiliated with either HP or insight)

    VNC over VPN

Have you altered your local routing so your IP stack knows to use the VPN interface for the traffic destined to your clients network? I'm not clear on where the firewall is in this network scenario. If I understand your network is something like the following: home <-----vpn/isp-----> office...

can't configure datasource on NT 2k for website

I can't say that I've seen that kind of behaviour.... no error messages at all? Not even in the server log? The first thing I'd check is to make sure the 'Internet User' has permission to access the .mdb file. If you have MS Office on this machine you might want to look for MSQRY32.EXE. It's...
