    Upgrading sp4 consoles to SP5

Hello, I have a scenario that I am sure is just something I am overlooking but for the life of me cannot figure this out. In our organization, we have around 50 consoles that will need to be upgraded to sp5. I have created the package on the SMS server. The source points to...

    Peachtree Problem

Matturado, I have had problems with Quickbooks on a Samba share. I investigated this problem with Intuit who told me that Quickbooks data is not supported on Samba. I am not sure if the same applies to Peachtree, but having supported both of those products, I would look at the Peachtree site...

Office patches - Installation promts for installation source

Greetings In our environment, patching Office (97, 2k, and XP) is a messy business. This is because many times when we are testing a package for an office patch, the office setup will prompt for an installation source (whether it is a CD, or ADMIN source). Has anyone been able to...

    Discovery problems

You will need to query either a router's ARP cache or a DHCP server's database. I would suggest installing DHCP service on your test D.C and then add your scope, reservations, etc. Keep in mind also that SMS depends on WINS, so it would be helpful to have a WINS server running as well.

Creating packages - please help !!

I would recommend that you set aside 2 or 3 systems and create a test collection based on those systems. This way, when you create the package you can target the test collection to see if you will have any problems with the installation.

    SMS network traffic

At our agency, we are planning to implement SMS on a switch network with 2 subnets. Is there any advantages to having 2 nics in the server? If so, should one NIC be on one subnet with the other on the second subnet?

    SBS

Hello all, I have to come up with a solution for a small business that will run win2k pro on the client side, and will need to use VPNs to access a server, as well as terminal sessions for older clients instead of purchasing new systems for these folks. Ideally, 10 users will have a...

    Force Client agent updates

Thanks for responding. Actually, We are employing the Network Discovery method, as well as the Windows Remote Client Installation, so that the user does not need to login for SMS to discover the computer, nor to install the client. The client agent is installed before we rebooted the machines...

I have several compaq 5000 series computers here and each one of them will not boot to a floppy disk. I have looked in CMOS to make sure that the A:\ was a listed device to boot from and it was, yet without fail the floppy will spin and then stop when trying to boot. The reason this is a...
