Anyone have experienced a problem with Win2K or XP on Peachtree 2002? Get lots of program errors when data is on Samba, but when I copy data locally, problem gone. I tried turning off Oplocks, no go.

Easiest way to duplicate problem is to try and preview any GL reports. Works fine locally.

P.S. Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

Matturado,

I have had problems with Quickbooks on a Samba share. I investigated this problem with Intuit who told me that Quickbooks data is not supported on Samba. I am not sure if the same applies to Peachtree, but having supported both of those products, I would look at the Peachtree site to make certian that the backend can indeed be hosted on a Samba share.

I have had more problems with Peachtree than I care to list (it won't even run in terminal server by design!). Good luck!

We actually have Quickbooks and Peachtree running at a number of sites. Neither will support Samba, but it will run. We thought maybe it had something to do with the data itself, or something specific to the version of peachtree (2002). After taking their data and software to our shop, it runs perfectly off the samba server in our office. This means it is something specific to samba at this one site. We are investigating. If you want to troubleshoot quickbooks, make a posting in the samba forum (or here, but someone might get upset), and I'll find it.
