Have a win 2000 domain controller. It has file shares and shared printers as well as being a DC. Right now they don't want to move the shares until they order a new file server. Have a new server that has Win 2003 as DC in the domain already. Need to remove the old win 2000 DC.
I need to...
You can run some of the tools yourself but take a look at
http://www.joeware.net/freetools/tools/oldcmp/index.htm
It is very well done and you can do the report/query easily before changing anything. I have used it in the past with no issues.

Go to properties of the contact in ADUC and click on the Exchange Advanced tab. There is a checkbox to hide from Exchange address lists. That will hide it from the GAL
Dave
Well- I have to admit I take the low tech approach. We just check the Hide from Exchange lists in the Advanced Exchange settings on the account which removes it from the GAL.
If this is a distrbution list in AD you might want to check the security there and make sure the user can modify the list. In this case the "owner" is more informational that security. If the list was created in a Public folder check the secutiry there. At least that is my quick thoughts.

I have one Exchange 2003 server. I was asked how many messages are sent/received per day on the server and I realized I did not know exactly..and did not know the best way to get that information. I have a general idea of how the server is handling the loads by watching the queues and server...

My problem turned out to be a Active Directory/DNS issue. We have a single label domain and all the SRV records were not in the DNS. Fixed that problem and the store was created/mounted without problem. Now to post another message on the next problem!!
Dave
Thanks for the info (and the edb explanation!!). I will work through them. Most seem to mention Exch 2000 but there is probably something in one of them!!
Dave
Thanks Pat-
There is plenty of room on all the disks. I checked the permissions on the mdbdata folders but I will look at them again to make sure I am not seeing what I want to see.
Still puzzled why there are no *.edb or .stm files created. I can even try to move the databases and it will...

Is ex the actual name of the server?
To run all the tests on a server named exchserver it would look like this. You would ideally run it repeatedly until you don't have any errors, warnings or fixes. .
Also did you run the eseutil with the /d switch? you should do this before the isinteg run...
I was thinking about Raid 10 basically for slightly more protection and increased speed in rebuild over Raid 5. I can take the hit in disk space. I know the advantage is not much with so few disk spindles.
