    it sounds like the static route is assciated with the interface. EX. ip route 144.42.106.0 255.255.255.0 e0 if so the termination of the E0 connection will result in the route being removed from the routing table. you can try this on any ios with any cisco router.

    If you advertise another AS route. And it is preferred over real route all the traffic will be routered to you. the party who owns the real network would most likley counter that by adjusting their metric to beating yours. and then Find you and possibley prosecute you. check your ISP agreement...
