I am looking for help/suggestions, and especially any documentation from anywhere, regarding
cisco routers losing static ip routing addresses when connection is terminated
specs:
cisco 800 router
ios (operating system for cisco router)
static ip route address
Thanks!

it sounds like the static route is assciated with the interface.
EX. ip route 144.42.106.0 255.255.255.0 e0

if so the termination of the E0 connection will result in the route being removed from the routing table.

you can try this on any ios with any cisco router.

it is possible that the router "lost" it's interface for some brief period of time, thus resulting in the loss of the static route?

Check your logs.
You should be able to tell from them if that was the case.
Ethernet is very stable but they will drop occasionally.
but the route should be re inserted into the routing table after holddown time expires.

also {sho ip route} should indicate to you how long the route has been up. depending on you routing protocol there are other commands to use.
