Okay on a whim I did a hard reset of the IP 500 and now the ext 6031 does come online properly. However, 6031 is not the correct extension I want assigned to this line, in fact I have no idea where that extension came from. How do I change it to a different extension and made it a permanent...
I'm having some trouble with a 5610SW IP telephone.
The phone is located at a remote site some distance from our IP 500 (5.0.20). The locations are connected via VPN. There are several Avaya 5601 phones at the site working without this problem.
Each time the phone boots it comes to a screen...
Shooting in the dark here.... if we assume the problem is caused by an inability to connect to both DNS servers simultaneously for some reason, then we would resolve it by designating subsequent DNS servers behind the secondary DNS server.
So. How does one add a additional DNS servers behind...
This was rather interesting. More puzzling really, I'm unsure what would have resulted in some 679 separate current connections.

Show version below. I believe this indicates that we're licensed up to 50 hosts. Further, we don't have 10 hosts anyway. There are 7 devices on the network, so even if we have a ten host license it shouldn't be an issue. There is a wifi access point on the network; however, it runs a MAC...
We have an a network comprised of about 40 ASAs connected via VPN. We have one particular ASA that periodically locks down and loses the ability to establish new connections. This happens during periods of particularly high data transfer (offsite backup) primarily. Now the weird part: once it...
In the interest of full disclosure, I actually studied Access in college. I also got a C and it was my least favorite class during my entire college experience. I earned my C and knew as much about Access the day I finished the class as I did the day I started. Perhaps less. I did learn a...
5.0.20. We upgraded to that version several weeks ago and the phones have worked flawlessly since then. Seems bizarre for it to come up as an issue now.

Some sort of bizarre activity from last night's storm. Came into the office this morning to find out IP500 not answering calls and somehow locked up.
The issue with the IPO was resolved by unplugging the electricity and replugging it for a hard reset.
However, after this we have continued to...
Okay, I'm very new to the ASA, but here's a hunch.
If you have QOS in place I would guess that your low latency queue is filling and resulting in tail drop. That might not show on the tunnels themselves since technically the data is still in the low latency queue. Anyway, that's a theory...
We have a VPN built by a single ASA 5510 at the center and ASA5505s at the spokes. There are about 40 spokes. Some time ago we began having trouble with traffic back and forth between two of the sites -- it appeared that certain ports were being blocked through the VPN tunnel. After much work...
I brought the two IP Offices together over the weekend on a single LAN and SCN worked without difficulty. Have a call into our Cisco partner to come resolve the problem. Also going to post our Cisco configs over in the ASA forum if any of you Cisco guys want to take a look.
Thanks for all...
This is sometimes also done with short codes, so be sure to check that area if the ARS solution does not pan out. Both are viable ways to do so, but the programming for short codes is a good bit more complex.

I have implemented the suggested changes regarding direct media path and the g729 codec. I don't remember why we changed to the g723, but it was done by our Avaya BP to try to resolve the problem.
I have also upgraded the ATM16 to the most current software version.
Problem remains constant...
I'll add that I am considering taking advantage of the upcoming holiday weekend to bring both IP Offices onto the same network on Sunday for the purpose of precluding a VPN problem. There are a number of reasons this is undesirable:
1. The IPOs are remote from one another, so to bring them...
