Two NICs in one Linux box.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately even editing the modules.conf file as you suggest still results in eth0 stealing both ip addresses, both IO ports and both IRQs! Whenever I ping an IP address it will work for either if eth0 is connected and fail for both if it is not. s-)

Two NICs in one Linux box.

I seem to be having an inordinate amount of trouble getting Linux (Mandrake 8) to recognise two NE2000 cards. I can configure both cards independently with no problem.:-) Both set up OK and I can ping the network. But when I configure both cards together, the first one (eth0) uses both IO...

    Compaq Netflex-2 NIC

Thanks for the help, I'll give it a try. Compaq did eventually come up with: duplex=2 speed=10 debug=0x10 But guess what? It didn't work! X-)

    Compaq Netflex-2 NIC

Does anyone know the correct driver and parameters for this card? It is installed in a Compaq 1500 server and, according to the manual, is based upon the Texas Instruments Super Eagle Chip. As it predates the Netflex-3 controller, which uses the ThunderLAN (tlan) module, I am not sure which...

    Internet Access under Netware 5.1

To use NAT under Netware you need two cards in the server, which we don't have! Also, we are restricted to 16 IP addresses - not much use with 200 workstations.

    Auto-logoff software

If it is just the Netware connection you're concerned about, you need to set the watchdog packets to drop the connections. This can be done from within Monitor on Netware 5 (Servman on 4.x). Look at the Communications parameters, and set the required delay. If you "disable login" at...

    Internet Access under Netware 5.1

Thanks to everyone who has contributed. We have a temporary solution using a Netware 4.1 server still running the old IP/IPX gateway. Long term though, I think we'll go the Linux route. Richard

    Internet Access under Netware 5.1

We do have a Linux (Mandrake 7.2) box which is running Apache at present to serve up some intranet pages. If it is possible to configure this for Internet access as well, that would be a great solution. Where do I go to find out how to do this? Please remember that I am a Linux novice! Thanks...

    Internet Access under Netware 5.1

Thanks Dave. I was beginning to think this might be the case. Richard

    Internet Access under Netware 5.1

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping not to have the expense of Border Manager, but if that's what it takes.... DHCP is running on the same NW5 server. I'm not sure about the box of chocolates, it is more a case of the way Paxo treats a turkey!!

    Internet Access under Netware 5.1

I have a NW5.1 server running NIAS. This is a recent upgrade from NW4.11, formerly running the IP/IPX gateway. I am running both IP and IPX on the server. At present, the only way I can get a workstation to connect to the internet is by assigning a static IP address to it. I cannot seem to get...

    Novell Certificate Server

Have you tried reinstalling the certificate server? Instructions are available on the Novell web site (go to suport.novell.com and search for "reinstall certificate server"). There are certain caveats if you are running Border Manager.
