I'll run again with the other (fairly new) stick. The first one is a 128mb that came with the system, the second (256mb) I bought about a month ago and the system was running fine up until now.

Memtest86 cycled through the 9 tests and showed millions of errors in the lower portion of the program. Maybe I was reading the screen wrong but it never came back and said "memory is bad".

Win ME machine started acting funny - now it only detects 4mb of ram at startup. Setup shows 384mb (which it has) but will not boot. I am rebuilding the machine but I can't reinstall windows because it only detects 4mb ram. I go to setup and back out and it changes to 36mb ram.
Any suggestions...

In Outlook 97, I can copy and paste from Excel (97) and the email...

I was having about the same problem. I defragged in safemode and it completed in a reasonable time frame. Maybe an hour or so for a 13gb HD with about 50% disc space used.
I get an error when I try it:

Using a Dell Inspiron 8000 1ghz with 256mb RAM and Win2000 professional.

I had similar problem - talked to a few people and came to the conclusion that the head was slightly out of alingment. Called Dell and they sent a new drive. If I had to pay for it, it would have been less that usd20.
The new floppy works fine now.
I upgraded video cards from an 8mb ATI to nVidia TNT2 M64 32mb card. Running Win98.
When I switch to higher resolutions like 1600 by 1200, the display changes but the desktop and icons are dark and the title bars are pink. 1600 by 1200 worked with my old card and same monitor (Dell 17.9...
