Open Networking in control panel, or right click Network Neighborhood on the desktop, select properties then select the Identifaction tab. Change it to anything you want.
It will NOT affect your login, nor should it affect any LAN stuff, as long as you change any permissions on other systems in the LAN. If you're using NETBEUI for your LAN, you don't need to change anything else. Cheers,
Jim
Thanks - that changed the name but now my Windows Network Login box reappears and my email asks for a password. I'll look around somemore and see if I can get the other things fixed.
Because you have a different logon, your pasword list (pwl) file will need to be deleted. When you next logon to Windows, either don't enter a password and just hit enter (if you don't want a logon box to come up) or enter the password and it will be saved in a new pwl file. For email you will have to enter your password, and it should also be saved if you check the option to save.
