I hope that I am reading your meaning correctly, if not, do please forgive me.
Are you linking the tsFinancial table to tsUsageVariance? Or do you want the one field as an unlinked field? Are you certain that {tsFinancial.CODE} does = "2013"?
In any case, there are several options...
Check that you are linking the exact same data type and field size. While this /shouldn't/ be an issue, it sometimes is. If everything appears to match, try running a query where table1.field = table2.field and see what is returned. Database Man

Do you mean Crystal reports to be exported to Excel? If that is the case, you may have a version of Crystal that is too old to interface easily with Excel9. You may need to upgrade your Crystal to the latest version, which will certainly be able to export to Excel v9.

I wonder if the GIF isn't just too big to load simultaneously with the report. Try converting it to a BMP if you can and see if it loads better. Database Man

Hiya! Try running your query in SQL and see what it returns. Does the grouping perform properly there? Can you describe the grouping problem in more detail? Does the problem differ between CR and SQL?

When you have the report completely finished, tested and accepted by the users, compile it.
Save the report
Select Compile report from the report menu or click the Compile button on the toolbar
Follow the dialog box that appears
Specify Distribute options as required
Make sure to specify...
To do a running total on a conditional field (and I understand that you want to total the results of the conditional field and not do the total in the field?) just treat the conditional field as any other. Remember, you can do evaluations and formulas within the running total as well.

Try adding an if/then clause where if isnull(field) then "null". That way you should get someting even when the field is null.
Lotsa Luck!

Crystal does't allow grouping by all data types. Try converting the field to a string: ToText(formula) and see if you can't group by that.
Lotsa Luck!

Crystal does not allow any fields longer than 256 characters with any driver as far as I know. I regret that I don't know any ways around it, either.

Perhaps a simpler way to hande this is by grouping on the individual's name and then having the designations and the information pertaining to the designation on the detail line. Thus you get this:

FSA 1999
MIID 2000
DAS 1999
Mary Jones

I have had great success with third party schedulers, as well as DoS batch files and VB apps. Larger companies frequently have scheduling apps already available on their servers.

As long as you are sure that the data in the fields does match and that one table doesn't include spaces you should be ok linking them anyway. I'd recommend doing a test report linking those fields and running a SQL (or whatever) query seperately to check that all expected data is returned in...
Sounds like there may be a network permissions issue. Talk to the network folks and see if they can set permissions up so that the report (engine, server??) has full permissions on the Excell spreadsheet. If there is a general read only permission it will seem to be fine in report development...
I am not sure I understand your question, but I'll give it my best shot. What I think you are asking is how to build a report using a SQL statement wherein the datasource will change.
I'd really recommend using the ODBC source as well. If this is not practical, you can build your SQL...
SOunds like, due to the date coming from Access and not from a table, CR is trying to do an exact match (i.e. 01/02/2001 00:00) and since nothing matches that /exact/ date time, there are no records returned. Try changing the parameter to a small range (from 01/01/2001 00:01 to 01/02/2001...
