    vi editor for Windows

Though I am new to Linux and things like VI are still somewhat out of my grasp, I hear that VIM is good. Here is their website for further review. http://www.vim.org/ --- "One source to query, one source to answer and one source to bind them." Aaron Sharp

Error Sample Code dBASE 5.0 for DOS

David, The larger idea that spawned this post was that we need to know who has the file. We've tried lksys(), but in the case of exclusive the information contained can only be accessed by the user of the file. We are currently thinking of a semaphore like system where when a person locks or...

    File reading capabilities of VBScript

Hello all, I have been tasked with finding out who has a file locked. Sounds relatively simple, but there are many interesting variables involved. So far, we are using a dBASE 5 for DOS program that is definitely legacy. There are functions within dBASE that need to lock a file exclusive...

Error Sample Code dBASE 5.0 for DOS

Hello, Another approach to my error issue might be to see some sample error trapping code. If anybody is willing to post some sample code that might be able to help me figure out what I need to do. Though, the could would need to be in dBASE 5.0 for DOS. Thanks --- "One source to query, one...

dBASE 5.0 for DOS - File Locking Info

Hi All, I am using dDBASE 5.0 for DOS. I have a file locked and I am trying to get the information on who locked it. So far, I have tried using LKSYS() (already CONVERTed the tables) and it only works if I issue the command with the same user that has the file locked. Given that information, I...

    Outlook 2003 Advanced Rules

Here is my goal. To use Outlook 2003 rules that will look at a new email and compare the address with those in my address book. If the email address is not in the book I would like to return the message to the sender with a note requesting them to call me to be added. Is this possible...

VPN - Non-domain machine accessing domain resources.

I figured it out. After the VPN connection which brings the PC through the firewall, it was a matter of using the IP address to map the share folder. I also edited the hosts file and could then also use the PC name!! --- "One source to query, one source to answer and one source to bind them."...

VPN - Non-domain machine accessing domain resources.

Also, if this isn't possible please let me know. Alternatively, I could try skipping the domain credentials altogether. We are using the VPN which will bring us into the network at the router level (SonicWall). At that point we just need to access a shared drive on a machine. Can I connect to a...

VPN - Non-domain machine accessing domain resources.

Hello! We are using a Sonic Wall TZ170 for a VPN connection. We are successful at connecting to the SonicWall, but when trying to connect to a program on a server it will not let us unless it is a domain PC. Is there a way to choose a domain or force a domain login once a VPN connection is...

DHCP run by win2k3 is not recognized in NT4

On the NT4 Server in the DHCP manager, there is an option to add a new server. When trying to add the Win2k3 Server running DHCP it tells me that the service is stopped or is not running. But it is running on the 2k3 machine. I don't know if this is a large issue or not. But the network used to...

Network shared pritner issues - disconnecting

lhuegele, I am pretty sure that would work if the option was available. Currently, I am just having the users manually map to the printer and authenticate. I might just run a script here in the future. Cheers

Network shared pritner issues - disconnecting

Ok, so I checked the workstation. It is on the correct domain and after a reboot I still couldn't set permissions for anyone but user accounts on the computer. None of the other domains would show up. Cheers

Network shared pritner issues - disconnecting

I did migrate it to the correct domain. I might have to redo that at a slow time. I will do that and then post back with my results... Thanks! Cheers

Network shared pritner issues - disconnecting

lhuegele, I tried looking at the share settings on the printer, but it would not find any domain users. It only shows the current computer. I thought maybe I could set group permissions for Domain User, but that option is just not available. I don't know if a reboot would help make the domain...

Network shared pritner issues - disconnecting

Hello, We have a printer attached to a computer that is then shared so other users can print to it. The issue we have is disconnecting on reboot. I can browse to the printer then use admin username and password to connect to the computer. When connected to the computer I can then see the shared...

    Constant authentication to network resources

gavm99, I think that was actually the problem! Once I added Domain Users to the share folder, the account could access the share without authenticating with another username. I am completely new to server administration and I really appreciate the help. Cheers
