Hello all,

I need some information/advice and I am very new to Windows 2003 server.

We have shared folders on the server, but we cannot connect to them with the current logged in user. We use the admin user and password to connect. So if we want to use a printer attached to another machine, we have to connect to that machine with the username/pass or to the server to "see" the share drives. Also, if just trying to map the share we also need to use a username and password different than the one currently logged in. Is there a way around this? Am I missing something basic?

Cheers!

Well you need to ensure that Domain Users have permissions to the shares as a starting point - I assume this is the case?

gavm99,

I think that was actually the problem! Once I added Domain Users to the share folder, the account could access the share without authenticating with another username. I am completely new to server administration and I really appreciate the help.

Cheers

IN that case, since you're new, don't forget to give Gavm99 a thank you star for his valuable post! :)
