Hi,
A Package is easy to create. Go to the Info Desktop and do File - New - Report Package Object. You just add your reports to it in order on one of the Tabs. Once created this can be scheduled in the same way as a report object.
I don't know about any documentation but have worked out that...
In a word NO but ......
You may be able to do something with the SDK.
Or
Previously I have written a query against the CINFO database looking for rows in the RunTimeImage table that have a strat date/time but no end date/time.
It works but is not perfect.
Hi,
I have been experiencing exactly the same thing with an Access copy of the CINFO database. On Seagates website they have an old article, that points to a patch for an old version of Info to put the process ID of the error in the event log. It looks like you already have this patch or a...
I get the following error message in the NT EVENT Application Log.
String Data, right truncated (null) : SELECT
CI_ID,CI_NAME,CI_SCHEMA,CI_PARENTID,CI_TYPE,CI_CONTTYP
E,CI_OWNERID,CI_ORIGID,CI_VERSION,COUNT,CI_TIMESTAMP,CI_FLAGS,CI_FILEPATH,CI_TARGETIS,CI_EXTRADATA FROM
CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE 0=1...
I think you may have some corruption in your cinfo system database. I would not advise fiddling with this on your own but Seagate should be able to point you to the dodgy record.
If I understand you correctly you need to create a shared variable and then only update it at the same time as it appears on the report. It sounds like you have some conditional suppression in the report and you need to mimick the conditions of this in the variable update.
One odd one we came across during a test phase before upgrading everything to 7.5 was that if we made a change to a report, saved it and refreshed it on desktop, we had to stop and reschedule the recurring job before this picked up the changes.
Have we ever !!!
I have been told that the Sentinel service is very suspect to any problems on a network no mater how small.
Solutions - get your Aps, Info servers etc. as close on the network as possible to your source data and system database.
We have our APS etc on WIndows 2000 and have...
Input holds your report templates. Double clicking tries to open them in Analyser but as they have no data you get this error.
1) Run designer and they do a file open and navigate to this directory to open the report templates.
2) You can save data in a template by selecting this when you save...
Sorry to get Technical on you.
The database I am talking about is an internal system database that Seagate Info uses to store various data about itself and the Info Desktop structure.
The flags are particular filds within a table on the above database.
I think it would be wise to get yout...
Ok,
If it happens again I would strt analysing your Info System database. Perhaps you could take a backup of it each day for a while and if you get the same problem then compare the InfoObjects table to see if any of the flags have been changed.
Hi,
Sometimes we get this.
Two things to check.
Try opening the report in Info Analyser and Viewer. Sometimes a report will be blank/wrong in one and OK in the other.
Sometimes people enter date parameters incorrectly causing a blank report. Some of our reports need the date to be added as...
Hi,
Part 1 - In Info Desktop clicking twice on the 'date' heading with instances displayed will change the order in which they are shown on screen. A little arrow appears to show the sort order.
Part 2 - Did you have any clever scheduling in place ? Where you using a self generated calendar ...
There is a product avaliable from a company called APOS that allows the extraction of this data.
Its called DocAssist.
It does a scan of all your reports and compiles an acceess database with loads of info about each report. You can then run reports against this database to produce your list...
I am not aware of how to pull this from the system database but you may be able to look at the Application log on the NT server(s) that are running as APS's.(If you run on NT) There seems to be a message there each time someone logs on.
Cheers
Some futher info that may be of use :
We have also got this problem when the C:\ drive on a particular Info Server has filled up with temp files.
On Windows 2000 we reinstalled Windows Service pack2 and got rid of this error also.
Cheers
You might want to try therunning the query below against your sysem database. Its not 100% accurate and also lists jobs currently processing and recurring jobs that have been scheduled since midnight but it may help. If you can improve it I would be very interested. I tend to use it to see what...
