Received Digits on DIDs has to start with 1??

Interesting. Deleting Dest Code 4(dot) resulted in no ill effects. Since these all go to the same route, interestingly, it turns out that dialing 2,3, (not 4 anymore) 5,6,7, or 8 + any digit + normal dialing works, although i have no idea why he set it up that way. Weird.

Received Digits on DIDs has to start with 1??

Okay, i've found what's going on but i have a follow-up question. Our installer set up destination codes for 2-8. the one for 9 is what lets us call out by dialing 9, right? But what are the rest for? If I just pick up the phone and dial a 7-digit number in our area code starting with a 4 or 7...

Received Digits on DIDs has to start with 1??

Hi, We have a PRI set up on our MICS (6.1 software), the received digit length is 4, all the ones we got before happened to "start" with 1 (e.g. NPA-NXX-1234) but now we have been assigned additional DIDs we want to use. We have no choice from our provider in selecting what digit they should...

T7316e Need to call-in as adminstrator, need ascii codes

If you need to enforce changed passwords every two weeks, why not just set in Class of Service, Password Expiry to 14 days? Why delete mailboxes and make everybody record their name again? People would also lose any settings they've personalized, as well as their greetings. I think the approach...

Argh! Red flashing light on 0x16 expansion unit.

Hmm... The power cable on this particular unit is permanently attached. I'll try cleaning the fiber cable, and make sure I insert it right, when i get back (I don't have a spare). For now I just punched the phones from the expansion onto the main unit instead* and used "change DNs" (grumble...

Argh! Red flashing light on 0x16 expansion unit.

I've just moved my MICS to a different office. When I connect power to the 0x16 fiber expansion unit (think it's a NTBB41), the red light on the unit flashes (the light is next to a wavy line symbol like this: ~ ), and phones connected to it also have their message waiting light flashing faintly...

What improvements are in the 7.0 or 7.1 software (MICS)?

Compared to the 6.1 software, what is gained by having the 7.1 software? There is a FAQ about this (http://www.tek-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=5388 ) but it hasn't been updated since '05 and only goes as far as 6.1. Thanks, -Dan

    NORSTAR Modular ICS Plus

Are you positive that it's VGA and not a serial port? Count the pins, or try gently to plug in a VGA cable to be sure. If you confirm it to be VGA, maybe plug in a monitor and see what comes up? I plugged a monitor into our NAM and it gives you an OS/2 desktop ... however yours must not be a...

    Outpulse 10 digits on MICS?

No problem stsguy -- I still appreciate the effort. :)

    Outpulse 10 digits on MICS?

Thanks, cook1082 for your advice. The reason for only wanting a small number of trunks is that this is a small office and we don't expect to be making/receiving a large number of simultaneous calls. Basically we're on a tight budget and trying to keep costs down. The provider can add more trunks...

    Outpulse 10 digits on MICS?

Re: only 3 channels We purposely are only getting 3 because that's all we need. The rest of the bandwidth will go toward the data side.

    Outpulse 10 digits on MICS?

Hello, We're going to be installing an MICS (6.1). We've ordered it with the following equipment: NT7B74, NTBB24, NTAB2769 Which is a T-1 card, a clock card, and the PRI keycode. We've ordered a T-1 from Speakeasy which they will be splitting for us (using a device called "Adtran TA 916") into...

Norstar - Default FAX on ATA to external line.

    > Just connect the POTS line directly to the fax. it *used* to be a dedicated line but we're killing that line to save $$ (we don't need to receive faxes, just send them). Anyway, that's an awesome, clever idea. I was using *82 as the external Hotline number (unblock caller id) but F78 (is...

Norstar - Default FAX on ATA to external line.

I've got an MICS ... i think 6.1 software. I'm going to be putting a FAX machine on an ATA-2, and since it used to be on its own dedicated line, I'd really like to make it behave as though one already dialed "9" when it goes off-hook. Since it's not useful for us to try to fax to an internal...

Enforce password security on NVM 4? (NAM)

Thanks curlycord! Guess i'll just have to browbeat or shame them into compliance with the policy! ;)

    NAM FAILURE

My NAM failed once, fortunately i got the hard drive to read again, and cloned it to a brand new 80GB drive (the smallest IDE drive readily available). Works great! (I initially tried to get clever and make more partitions, but it didn't work so i'm still only using the first 6GB (the capacity...

Enforce password security on NVM 4? (NAM)

We have a Norstar Voicemail on a NAM, running with our MICS. Is there any way to require that people put in secure passwords on their mailboxes? Basically i want to prevent 1234 and 3333, etc. I'd like to require 6 digits too. Is this possible?

Creating a DN that really calls an outside number

Specs: MICS 7.0, NVM 4.1 on NAM. Copper trunks, one simple line pool (Pool A). I just got external call forwarding enabled by creating a route and destination code (8 -- it wouldn't let me use 9 which it looks like is our "Extrnl code"). I'd like to do one better in certain situations, and...

NAM - NVM4.1 - hard drive died. How to restore?

So it came up after i booted it with the boot floppy and then reset it again. First thing I did was back up my capabilities file. Then my programming. It turns out i bought a warranty from the vendor (totally forgot about that), so they said they will repair the unit. Perhaps at some point...

NAM - NVM4.1 - hard drive died. How to restore?

Okay so I'm pretty sure i've got a dead HDD in my fiber 8-channel NAM. Hooked up a monitor and keyboard to it, it has a cute animation of a floppy disk, telling me to put in a floppy disk and hit F1. I haven't done anything to it for a long time so I don't think I broke it... Its Mfg date is...
