Hi,
We have a PRI set up on our MICS (6.1 software), the received digit length is 4, all the ones we got before happened to "start" with 1 (e.g. NPA-NXX-1234) but now we have been assigned additional DIDs we want to use. We have no choice from our provider in selecting what digit they should start with, but the new ones start with 4 instead of 1. (e.g. NPA-NXX-4000). When i try to put one of these new DIDs into a Target Line, it lets me type the 4 but it won't let me put the rest of the digits in, so obviously something's wrong. Playing around, I see that the only digit it will allow me to type a full 4 digits is if I start it with a 1.

What's going on and what do I have to do to get this range expanded to include "4"?

Your opinions and advice would be appreciated.

Okay, i've found what's going on but i have a follow-up question.

Our installer set up destination codes for 2-8. the one for 9 is what lets us call out by dialing 9, right? But what are the rest for? If I just pick up the phone and dial a 7-digit number in our area code starting with a 4 or 7, for example, all i get is a "the number you have dialed is not in service" recording, so it appears to me that these destination codes (which all point to route 003, just like 9 does, do us no good, and only prevent us from being able to use those digits for DIDs -- and being able to use call park.

Oh, the Dest codes for 2-8 have a dot after them, while the 9 one doesn't. What does that dot signify? I forgot.

Do you agree? Or is there a reason we need to have all 9 destination codes??

sounds like the 4. (dot meaning any digit) which is why you get blocked after you input 4 and another digit

delete the dest code 4 and see if that corrects the problem

sounds like the system was set for blind dialing

Interesting. Deleting Dest Code 4(dot) resulted in no ill effects. Since these all go to the same route, interestingly, it turns out that dialing 2,3, (not 4 anymore) 5,6,7, or 8 + any digit + normal dialing works, although i have no idea why he set it up that way.

Weird.

some times (before 10 digit dialing) techs set up the digits that are local just so the customer didn't have to dial 9 or push a button to call out (lasy people) they just want to dial as if they are at home (pick up and dial)

sounds like your system was set like this and never changed
