Hello,
We're going to be installing an MICS (6.1). We've ordered it with the following equipment:
NT7B74, NTBB24, NTAB2769
Which is a T-1 card, a clock card, and the PRI keycode.

We've ordered a T-1 from Speakeasy which they will be splitting for us (using a device called "Adtran TA 916") into an ethernet connection for our Internet access, and "PRI hand-off" to our norstar. We're getting a total of 3 trunks (not 24), and 10 additional DIDs.

Speakeasy's guy called me to make sure our equipment can work with their config, which is basically set in stone on their end.

I am going to be hiring an installer to do the actual hookup but I want to know right away if I'm setting myself up for heartache--Can the following requirements be met with the MICS? I am especially concerned about the outpulsed digits setting which he was very adamant must be 10.

Any advice or insights you may have will be very much appreciated.
-Dan

== Here is the info he gave me: ==

PRI Signaling Type: National ISDN 2 (Default)
Number of digits to be out pulsed: 10

Codec default is set to G.729 for all Trunks and Lines, must specify ports to be configured to accommodate faxing with G.711

PBX needs to be set in User Mode with Preferred Channel Selection Algorithm
Channel Hunting Selection Outbound: Top Down; Inbound: Bottom Up

Must program PBX to only see appropriate active Channels for the solution, 1-23 & (24 Signaling)

No FXO ports on IAD, available handoff is Voice T1 - TDM via RJ-45 or Lines via Amphenol

Digits in E.164 format (Standard US: 1+10 digit numbers)

DTMF Signaling - Digits pulsed MUST BE 10.

i believe your 10 digit dialing refers to local dialing. you will have to dial the area code and 7 digit local number. only 3 channels on a pri for voice does not sound right unless you are using it for dids only

Re: only 3 channels
We purposely are only getting 3 because that's all we need. The rest of the bandwidth will go toward the data side.

You know that means only 3 calls at one time in or out.
The 10 digits is the recived digits programed in the target(DID) lines. Basicly when you program the PRI all is left at the default settings for NI2.There is no setting in the system for the codecs. You do need to provision the lines for only 3 not 23.

Thanks, cook1082 for your advice. The reason for only wanting a small number of trunks is that this is a small office and we don't expect to be making/receiving a large number of simultaneous calls. Basically we're on a tight budget and trying to keep costs down. The provider can add more trunks on in the future if we ask them to.

So you're saying the target lines can definitely support 10 received digits instead of the more traditional 4 or 7? That sounds encouraging.

No problem stsguy -- I still appreciate the effort. :)
