    Silent router

How can I make a router silent to the network that will only accept and receive ftp traffic? Will an extended ACL do (permitting only ftp traffic) or will I have to turn anything else off such as CDP and keepalives. I basically want it to be invisible... Thanks

    Does all switch..

Adding a hub does not create another collision domain because a hub does not filter traffic. It does eliminate the dedicated bandwidth that a switch provides because a hub divides the bandwidth with all attached users/devices.

    3640 Auto-Failover to Back-Up CKT

You may want to use backup interface or watch lists, which are much better than floating static routes. They do not pass routing table information when primary goes down....

    2 Providers Routing issue

Be careful with multihoming, it will cause you to become a transit between the two ISPs. That means that you receive both of their routing tables (which is not a good idea trust me). Sounds like you have a routing issue....

What is the Difference between Router & access Router

The 2503 and 2509 are not made to be used as access servers because you can only have 1 dialup session at a time (1 aux port). The 2509 has 8 asynchronous serial ports and the 2511 has 16 asynchronous serial ports....... Both have 1 Ethernet port and 2 synchronous serial ports. This way you can...

    1720 Configuration/NAT

The reason why you can't trace route from inside with the static IP's is because they are private addresses. Qwest is probably blocking traceroute to prevent anyone from tracing back to you to try and prevent spoofing. Remember, private addresses can be anyone and therefore cannot be traced. The...

Cat 5 Wiring issues...? Wha'd I do wrong?

Did you test the cables with a "cable tester". If not, use a multimeter and ohm the matching (corresponding) pairs at each end for continuity. The jack wiring scheme is listed as 568A and 568B configurations. Double check and also check your punch down connections in your...

motorola back to back with cisco

Check to make sure the subnet masks match on each router. I would then check to see if the DTE & DCE (on the cable ends) match the configuration. DCE should have the clock rate set on it. Then try something simple as a no shutdown on the interfaces. If you already double checked everything, try...

    Frame Relay Question

The WICs used on the 2600 routers have a smaller connection than the 2500 routers. I can't seem to remenber the number of pins that it has. When you order the routers, they come with the DTE DTE cables.

interoperating with different makes of routers

CDPm is a Cisco proprietary protocol (Cisco Discovery Protocol) and can only be used with cisco devices. I'm not sure if there is anything that can tell you all devices on a network.

    NAT-ing Multiple Interfaces i.e. Frame Relay 0.1 0.2 0.3

You can NAT different pools on seperate interfaces. You still only have a certain number of global addresses in which can be accessed. You can configure inside NAT to allow inside local host to access to global addresses from the NAT pool. Hope I helped
