The system only has enough power to ring 8 phones simultaneously, my understanding is it starts at the lowest port number assigned to ring in the system until it reaches 8 then alternate rings the next 8.

Couldn't you just remove line 3 from Trunk Group 1 and place it in Trunk Group 2 then it would start on line 2 and only go to line 3 if 1 and 2 were busy.

Hmm couldn't figure out how to edit my post. Think I messed up that last part. Since it list names I imagine it asks you to press something when you hear the name you want. Like I said I've never turned it on and tried it yet. But I know other systems that work that way.
When both first and last names are turned on the prompt says please enter the first 4 letters of the persons first or last name. You could always modify the prompt to say what ever you wanted to.
