    Test Cluster, how to?

I have tried clusterknoppix and as said, it doesn't really cope with what we need. As far as i am concerned, shouldn't all ressources be available in a cluster? The idea we are going for is multiple programs running at the same time and then stress testing them, and ofcourse testing them for...

Turn off touchpad in CentOS 4.4

There is a way to get it to shut off while you are typing, i am guessing this is what you want? You will need to use the synaptics driver with your mousepad in the xorg.conf, plus you will need some ekstra features added to make it work properly. This page should give you an idea of how to setup...

PXE install a dual boot image

Don't think that is doable with PXE, PXE usually needs at server that it can boot from. Best solution with an install image is a ghostcast server.

I got it to work, by putting my proxy setting, plus username and password into the network config file. A bit jitty since it is almost two years since i have done it.

    Test Cluster, how to?

Yeah i have used wine before, and i know it's pretty much utter crap when it comes to emulation, but this would pretty much be standard windows applications, like the new word and such. The reason why my boss wants a linux cluster, is because a windows cluster loads up one pc after another when...

    Test Cluster, how to?

I am trying to set up a cluster to test Microsoft software on, the reason why i have put it here, is because it would be preferred that it was a linux cluster. I have toyed with numerous distros, and the one i have gotten to work is a live cd, which won't really work, as i have to install wine...

    Bulding the X Window System

Why exactly compile them from source, isn't it easier to use a .deb package, except if you need it for something specific. They usually also list dependencies, but the easiest would be to use apt-get, but it is usually hopelessly outdated. If it is just because you want a bleeding edge system...

Recommended for file-, domain- and printserver?

@lw thank you that is all i needed to hear, we are running a DAS with 15 disks (1 as hot swap) in raid 5 or 0/1, still haven't decided yet. We have two servers with, 4 duo core 2 processers and 8gb of ram each. So i guess we are fine with this, both redundant and both attached to the DAS. They...

Recommended for file-, domain- and printserver?

Yes i realise now, that i clicked the exchange instead of 2003 server forum. There is a reason Enterprise supports up to 8 cpu's per server and supports x64, standard only supports 4 cpu's and no x64 support. Define size of company: Government Define throughput: We have about 200 users that...

What would you give as recommended specs for each of the three types? Best specs for fileserver? Best specs for domaincontroller? Best specs for printserver? All based on the standard windows 2003 server sp2 enterprise edition.
