I have many address books of hundreds of records that I have to do an odd conversion on. Basically, I need to merge 3 cells into 1 cell that includes multiple lines. I figured the easiest way to do this would be with a concatenate formula including carriage returns, but as of yet I've been...
I have a user that has a Help and Support Center that has gone haywire. Her view includes the Pick a Help Topic heading, but nothing underneath it. Also the top browser buttons have disappeared and the Did You Know section is also no longer in existance. These appear as blank areas and are...
Just an FYI... if you experience a problem like this, the fix I found that worked was tucke away in the microsoft knowledge base.

Realized that and this is the solution I have gone with for now... I have the user change their info in Settings to reflect which revision it is "John Doe" changes to "John Doe, 2nd Revision" for their user name and proceeds. Not that pretty, but I guess it left the user satisfied.
Thanks!

I have a group of users modifying a legal document. User1 changes the document (changes are in red) and sends it to User2. User2's changes are in blue, as the setting in Word allows for the changes to be coded by author. When User1 gets the document back, is there a good way for his changes...
Update on the problem: Appears to be an issue with a product called Hyperion Vignette or Hyperion Business Rules. Still, anyone know how IE links to its plug-ins and how this problem may be able to be fixed? Browser windows display all HTML fine, but lack any Java applets, Windows media...
Are your machines running Remote Desktop? I've run into this happening to users after they use the remote desktop tool. The fixes I've seen are:
- Reboot. Will work fine until it breaks again.
- Saw this suggested elsewhere, hasn't worked for me, but you can try In Excel, Go to Tools ->...
No new software was installed in the span of the 2 machines "breaking". The unique software that is on these machines is from the Hyperion Solutions line of products (Business Rules, Essbase Client.) I don't know a ton about these apps, or if it is even related to the IE problem. So no special...
Tried logging in as my ID (admin) and that didnt work either, so not a profile issue. Uninstalled/reinstall JRE. Users used to be able to access all this until earlier this week. Problem surfaced on 2 machines using Hyperion analytical software, but problem spans outside of said software...
Have 2 users that are effected by the same problem. In IE 6.0 SP1 on Win XP SP2, users have problems with non-IE file types. They are unable to open pdf's, anything w/ a Windows Media Plug-in, and anything using java applets that open in a new window. (Can view the simple applet samples on...
Out of about 100 users, 2 machines are effected. They reach the analyzer splash screen and stall. IE displays "Done" and the applet never loads. All machines have JRE 1.4.2_06. The two machines in question also have many Hyperion products (Vignette, Planning, Business Rules, etc). Is there...
I was resistant to it because it seemed as though, even if it was a network connection issue, that it wouldn't effect the file in that way... but you were right. Copied the sheets from the old workbook to a new one and all is well. Star for you.

Thanks for the suggestions, but neither of them took. Still gets the same error. Also tried having him save locally with a short filename (the existing one was pretty long), but to no avail, eliminating the possibility of a network issue.
Maybe a lack of memory issue, as the workbook has...
User opens Excel spreadsheets from a network drive, alters data and tries to save the workbook. When he does this (using either Save or Save As) he gets a message box titled Microsoft Excel with the Message "Document Not Saved". This is with Office XP on a Windows XP machine. The file is not...
She left me a voicemail saying that the workbook would open if she saved it under the Excel 5.0/Workbook format, but that "it wasn't doing everything it was supposed to do"... and has since been unreachable. I guess the question is really what would cause such an error so I can fix it without...
Have a user that sends spreadsheets to multiple users monthly. This month, users using Office 97 got the error message "Microsoft Excel has encountered a problem
and needs to close. We are sorry for the
incovenience". Then, their Excel session is shut
down. Tried having her save as "Excel...
