Have 2 users that are effected by the same problem. In IE 6.0 SP1 on Win XP SP2, users have problems with non-IE file types. They are unable to open pdf's, anything w/ a Windows Media Plug-in, and anything using java applets that open in a new window. (Can view the simple applet samples on Sun's site, but a site they visit that opens an applet in a new browser window doesn't work.) Have tried uninstall/reinstall of IE, but to no avail, and all security settings match working machines. Feel like I'm beating my head against a wall on this one. Any Ideas????

jdh17,
are the proper programs installed on the pc's to run what they are trying to use? do the users have the same rights as the one's that are working? if logged in as admin does it work?
regards,
longhair

Tried logging in as my ID (admin) and that didnt work either, so not a profile issue. Uninstalled/reinstall JRE. Users used to be able to access all this until earlier this week. Problem surfaced on 2 machines using Hyperion analytical software, but problem spans outside of said software. Even uninstalling Hyperion products didn't work. Will probably rebuild the machines, but would like to troubleshoot it in case it happens again. Thanks for quick response.

No new software was installed in the span of the 2 machines "breaking". The unique software that is on these machines is from the Hyperion Solutions line of products (Business Rules, Essbase Client.) I don't know a ton about these apps, or if it is even related to the IE problem. So no special installs/uninstalls that I could find.

Thanks,
jdh

Update on the problem: Appears to be an issue with a product called Hyperion Vignette or Hyperion Business Rules. Still, anyone know how IE links to its plug-ins and how this problem may be able to be fixed? Browser windows display all HTML fine, but lack any Java applets, Windows media, Flash, etc.
