I have a group of users modifying a legal document. User1 changes the document (changes are in red) and sends it to User2. User2's changes are in blue, as the setting in Word allows for the changes to be coded by author. When User1 gets the document back, is there a good way for his changes to be configured in a 3rd color so as to track the new changes??? I've been unable to find a way to do this. I could just allow the user to make the changes from another user id, but I'd rather not.

Thanks,
jdh

You can change the user ID settings in Word, don't have to log on as another user.

I do not think there is an easy way of doing this. The intention is that if the same author gets the document again, the previous revions have been either accepted...or not. That is, they have been removed. Or - they are still considered part of the original revisions.

Realized that and this is the solution I have gone with for now... I have the user change their info in Settings to reflect which revision it is "John Doe" changes to "John Doe, 2nd Revision" for their user name and proceeds. Not that pretty, but I guess it left the user satisfied.

Thanks!

I spent some time looking for a solution a few years ago, but never came up with anything better.

You can record the user name settings to a macro, and assign to a button or hot-key to make it less annoying to the user.
