    ok.. thanks for trying Chris, I think I have possibly got it working... I have added a pointer record in the reverse lookup zone on the primary dns server for both of the dns servers. I then performed the query again and it appears to work now. Also the zone has not dissappeared this time...

    Thanks Chris, I keep creating reverse lookup zones but they keep dissappearing.. each time I create one (I did this morning), I look later and it has gone and the secondary's all show an error. Any ideas why that should happen? peter

    Does anyone know how I can make MS Backup on Win2k Server locate the media in a Travan 40 tape drive? The drive work with Tapeware but can't get it to work with MS Backup. The drive is listed as an option to backup to within MS Backup though. Regards, peter

    Yeah, I know what you mean!! But it does rather stink when the path in question is a default windows path like C:\Program Files !! Can't believe MS didn't patch this problem since it the service program can't even handle a default windows path. Anyways, thanks for your help.

    Lansuite can't start/ FWL Packet Filter service failed to start

    This issue is now resolved. thanks for your help. the problem was caused because the path to Lansuite contains spaces and there is a Win2K bug which can cause programs which are set to run as services to fail if there is a space in the path. Applied MS KB solution and all is now well.
