Laptop Windows crash - attempting to recover data

I have a Dell 4150 and Windows became corrupt. So far Dell has only been able to tell me to reformat and start over, but I need the recent data (mostly graphics files) off of my disc. I purchased an ide to usb enclosure, removed the drive from the laptop and was able to access it immediately...

    event sign up script?

Can anyone recommend a simple event sign up script - I've got 70-80 volunteers that need to sign up for staggered shifts. I'll need them to log in then view the schedule. I don't really want to do a complicated calendar/schedule program.

    recovery cd needed

I bought a w2000 IBM network computer off of eBay mostly for testing Websites on different browsers (I'm a web designer) - I was going to try to learn .NET and when I tried to install IIS, it asked for a w2000 disc that I don't have (I have a w2000 license). I tried to contact IBM but they...

    My email address was hijacked...?!

I've been getting returned mail notices for mail that I did not send. I contacted my ISP and they claim that it must be a virus or adware in my computer that is doing it. I use SPYBOT and ADAWARE and Norton AV. They recommended a complete reformatting of my hard drive. I dont think so...

Have license and os - need disc

I just purchased a used PIII machine that has Win 2000 loaded with the license, but no discs. I bought the machine to test asp and .net sites since I usually use Apache. I'm afraid when I start installing .NET it's going to ask me for the OS discs. Am I SOL or does MS honor the license?

asp site transfered to non asp host

If the old host doesn't have the backup files, it looks this poor guy is totally out of luck. Is there any process or company that you are aware of that could "DEBUG" the corruption, or are we better of starting from scratch here? As it is, I'm thinking I'm way over my head with this one.

asp site transfered to non asp host

Thanks for the replies - now I have even more concerns. The old host said there is no backup copies, and I'm thinking more and more that the files were corrupted in some way. I'm afraid that even if we were to switch hosts it wouldn't work. Here is an exerpt from the homepage saved in .asp...

asp site transfered to non asp host

A potential client came to me with this problem - his host went out of business and he transferred his entire site to Yahoo Bus. Svc. Bad move, since his site was written with .asp and YBS doesn't support it. He asked me to try and get the homepage up and running at least - problem is, when I...

Menu created in fireworks works in DW template but not on other pages

I'm guessing that you have your main page in a seperate folder than the supporting pages. It's a pain, but if you are uncomfortable with includes you can initially put all of the files in the same folder - if you want to move it later, DW should update all of the links - just remember what you...

    vb.net install lock up problems

I did a clean reboot the second time I tried to install, and still no go. I tried to uninstall, but there is no trace of the program when I add/remove programs. I tried to uninstall the IIS and that just hung. If I did a clean reboot and it still doesn't work, will turning off script blocking...

    vb.net install lock up problems

I attempted to install vb.net for a class. Installation failed and now all installations fail. The first attempt prompted me to install IIS and FP extensions. I did so. The vb.net cd prompted me to insert the studio.net prereq cd which tried to install the .net framework. At the end of the...

    Password Protection Help

My group wants me to password protect an area of the site and they would all like unique passwords. I have not yet learned how to integrate databases with a website (althought that is my next move). I can set up a database in Access. I have all of the Macromedia aps and I know FP, HTML...

    Starting ecommerce site

I have never done an ecommerce site before, and I was wondering if anyone had any general suggestions for hosting, etc. It is for a nonprofit organization, and I have to keep costs down. All I need is the ability to accept MC/V. Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Dreamweaver FTP questions

I just took over a site hosted on Geocities Plus (no indepenent domain name, no ads, with supposed FTP ability). I use Dreamweaver MX to maintain other sites, but have done them from scratch. What I want to do is download the current site from geocities, then continue to maintain it, keeping a...

    Limit site search results

We have pages that we are working on on the server, and our FP site search is pulling those up although they are not linked to any of the active pages. Is there any way to eliminate them from the site search and still have them on the server?

    Set default to .html

I can't find a way to set the default file setting to .html when you save in FP 2000. We have a couple of people working on the site that do not use editors at all and are frustrated that some files are .htm and others .html. We would like to make them all .html.

    FTP and FP problems.

The group I am volunteering for is using FP2000 and an FTP client. They do not upload from a PC but keep the entire site on the server and edit it from there. There is discussion lately that there is conflicts with trying to FTP to a server with a FP site, but we have had no problems. We are...

layout and freakin help with netscape

I am finding that unless you write totally seperate pages for both browsers, or script sections of the site for specific browsers, they will never look exactly the same. Netscape users are currently very low in the demographic you are dealing with. I didn't view it, but unless it looks...

fixed image background within a table cell?!

I'm sure there are many ways to do this, but I just had a similar instance where I used css. Positioning is critical here, so it can't be used without fixing positions. There are other options in css that let you position backgrounds over specified areas, but the following was a quick fix for...
