A couple years ago (when I purchased the DV500 Plus, which is old now but works fine even though the company is a bit pompous and they abandoned their link to Adobe Premier with their replacment product), I tested every codec I could find (free or demos) and surprisingly the TMPGenc was first or...
The short of it...reading an technical colum for LAN computers, one a P3 Win98SE (host\firewall) and the other a P4 XP Pro. For additional seccurity. Article said to copy the Netbeui protocol from the CD (even if unsupported by Microsoft) and then: uncheck the Client Microsoft Networks and File...
The short of it...I've lost it, call it a brain fart. Networking two computers P3 Win98 host\firewall and P4 XP Pro. They both enjoy internet though WinProxy on the P3 (natch). But I can't remember how to make Win98 ask me to log on (I've done the primary thingie under networks for Client...
An unimportant question, but am curious. I bought Warcraft III and my system meets all the specs except the 3D video card (16M recommended). So the graphics are rough, understandable. What is not understandable is why the mouse is so sluggish and the scrolling of the screen spastic. Everything...
P3, soyo MB, win 98SE, 384M ram, 13G primary hard drive-bootup drive, 40G secondary hard drive for video editing, using software to recognize the 40G.
1. What is the easiest way to make my 40G the primary bootup drive and transfer all programs from the 13G? Would like to avoid having to...
It's tedious...but I just keep control\alt\deleting and ending tasks of everything except explorer and then defrag. Works fine. Then reboot. Works on Millenium and 98SE
Wolluf: As instructed, went to add new hardware and installed a new port 3. Thanks.
Lgebhart: Could not find anything that resembled pnpOS in BIOS, I see what you mean about the IRQ 4 conflict between Com 1 and Com3. Checked and the modem required 133mhz BUUUUT...it did say something about...
I'm stymied. Paid $5 at work for an old p1 133 and buffing it up for my retired mother-in-law (oh please) to play card games on and some simple free internet access like Juno.
The Problem. When installing the generic CompUSA 56 PCI fax\modem, it automatically installs it on port 4. And the...
1. I have a P3 450 with 384 RAM on Win 98SE. Somebody told me that various Win operating systems can only handle so much RAM and that I wasted my money past 256M. I bought it for the processing of video editing...memory for the application. Isn't that correct?
2. 3D video card for games...
Ceh4702 has the answer...I used EZMAX (came with Western Digital 40G 2nd drive) and it works fine.
But here's a question...updating BIOS...is this a good idea? What's the down side? How badly can I muck up my system? I have a P3 450, 384 RAM, Win 98SE, motherboard is SOYO (Tiger Direct Korean...
I'd split the .avi file in half at an appropriate place, create the mp2 files using whatever flavor codec (TMPgenc is good and free), and then use the mp2's to make VCD's (using VCD Easy-free). Can then view on standalone DVD player or on computer using free DVD software.
Yep...specifically browse to the CD to get the correct driver...and have gone to nVidia's web site for the latest drivers...but of course that's a farce since I can't use them until I get the CD driver to work. I have installed this card 3 dozen times at least over two months (probably wore the...
Still trying to figure this one out. Bottom line: Win 98SE recognizes and installs driver for graphic card below, but hangs up on the Win 98 logo screen on reboot-although I can HEAR all startup things happening in background. Have reinstalled system, nVidia manufacturer says it should run ok...
My daughter (at college) reports her Dell P4 system:
1. Turns itself off and reboots from time to time (I'm thinking some power feature needs adjusting---the thing is probably constantly on playing music so when she's in an application some timing feature may pop it off??)
2. Word (that comes...
By golly, I've done it again. Upgraded 8M SIS 6326 AGP slot graphics board with 64M GEforce 2 nvidia MX400 AGP board. Per user group discussions, I first removed the old driver software and then removed the device from Systems Device Manager. Installed generic SuperVGA driver. Put in the new...
Edfair has it on the money. For whatever reason, if video vendors tailor their wares for an operating system, it's for a reason. The video components are too twitchy (work one time not another) to fool with OS's. Also, going to ME?? I researched heavily before I shelled out the $800 video...
