I apologize for complaining. I must have been unclear. My data types are not different from the example. When I replace my database fields directly into the formula as delineated in the example, I get the error: "A string is required here." Once I click OK on the error, the cursor is blinking...
Crystal 8.5 (can't upgrade until next year)
SQL Server database connection through Pivotal dll.
The Invoice has multiple serial numbers listed for the order. I want to concatenate these serial numbers into one field, but I am running into the >254 characters limit.
From what I've read in the...
CR 8.5, SQL db, Pivotal (CRM) front end.
I have a Sales Opportunity report that I'm working on now that is driving me bonkers.
My goal is to give the user the choice to sort either by Account Manager (String) or Date (Date). If AM is chosen group by AM and sort by Date Descending. If Date is...
What type of formula would I use? I keep trying to use a Maximum formula, but since I can't do it on a count, it tells me that the summary/running total could not be created.
What am I missing here? Could you give me an example of the formula?
Thanks,
Glenda
Using CR8.5
I have a ID field that I am summarizing using Count grouped by Date Recorded (every month). I want to be able to find the numbers for the Maximum and the Minimum Count by month and eventually use them for a subreport.
I'm pretty sure I can't do a formula or a running total to get...
Did anyone ever come to a solution for this? We are trying to add SP3 and have tried SQL authentication (sa password blank) and Windows authentication with no luck.
I'm not sure if you just want to suppress the header and leave a blank space where that subreport object is in the container report or to suppress the whole subreport.
I just created a report that had 26 subreports (one for each letter of the alphabet). In order to suppress the blank...
Thanks for the jumpstart. After not thinking about it for awhile, I was able to get it to work. Well, mostly.
I'm using the workaround that Crystal gives on their support site. (The link is in the FAQ here)
It's using a duplicate subreport that has the shared variable and the object it self is...
I've done the whole rigamarole with the duplicated report and shared variable just to get my blank subreports to suppress. Now what I'd like to is get each subreport to start on a new page IF it is not blank. All my subreports are in the report footer.
There must be a way to do this. I think...
Thanks to both of you for your help.
Jim's version gets me much closer to what I'm aiming for.
Now, I need to figure out how to group by the individual letters, if this is even possible.
Right now the customer in the example above would appear in the group "CHN". What I need is...
In the Customer table there is a string field called Schedule of length 26. Each of the 26 places is either "N" or "Y".
For example:
{Customer.Schedule} = NNYNNNNYNNNNNYNNNNNNNNNNNN
Each element of the array corresponds with the alphabet, so {Customer.Schedule}[3] would be...
I've had some problems with Crystal and an Okidata printer in the past. Some things that you might want to try:
- make sure that your margins are not too small
- you may want to try updating the driver again
- make sure the report was created using the Okidata as its default printer
- Since...
Thanks guys! These were great suggestions.
I ended up using the page header to fix the length at the top of the page. All the Sales were in the details. Using the remainder formula in the conditional suppression worked beautifully for this section. The Credit section was a bit more of a pain...
Using Crystal 7.0
I have a report printing on a preprinted form that is grouped by transaction type (Sales and Credits). Right now my details section is holding all the item info for the invoice. Here's what I need to accomplish:
I want all the Sales to print at a fixed starting point on the...
Thanks for your help, Ken.
I've updated the report at the customer's site. When they get in (PST) I left them a message to check the report and I'm sure everything will be fine.
Thanks again,
Glenda Roasa
Do you mean if the Details section wasn't suppressed? If so, then with the way that this report is designed it repeats the same information depending on the number of transactions that customer has had.
If the report was designed with only the one table, each of the fields would be displayed...
Good point. I think that because of the way the data is stored it might not make a difference. Let me know what you think:
In the database {armaster.balance} is listed by {armaster.accountID}.
Details are suppressed. For some reason all the fields in detail are repeated in GH #2, GH #3, GF #2...
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are the best!
I took out the conditional suppression on Group #3(it was {armaster.balance} = 0) then added a group selection ({armaster.Balance} <> 0). The running totals are now correct!
Thanks again for your help!!
I checked the group options again and "Keep Group Together" was not checked. Just to see if it would do something, I selected that option, ran it, then de-selected it and ran it to see if anything changed. No such luck.
But I just tried to take off the conditional suppression for...
