What is your users account showing for profile path?
If you open up you users and groups and look in your standard user account (you did create astandard user acoount and copy it to make new accounts right?) Go to the profile tab and you should see
\\PDCServerName\Profiles\%username%

Check in the Tools > options > security > notify tab and see if this is where they have this other users name.

As for a celeron, I would rather get an AMD or a full fledged Intel than some stripped down Intel proc.

You need to go to network properties and choose add client and then select the place where you have the client files,. (c:\novell\nls) and it will install it Do not run setup.exe
