I have a cable modem and need to know how many pc's I can network off of it using a router to assingn ip addresss so not to be charged for each machine, my pcs are all networked to a main server. I know I'm missing somthing here just not sure what? hope this makes some sense.
I could be just...
did the sound ever work? if so you might check system info
config utilites go to history and it just show the org driver and when it was changed and stopped working. maybe
dont know that mb but had one like it, voltage is proably auto But be sure that there aren't jumpers for the bus speed and or clock speed. another thing to check would be the memory, might be enough for p2 but not p3 could be just 1 bad chip on the stick of memory, that shows at p3 and not p2...
Why bother with the a drive anyway?
go to setup and have it boot from the cd rom
if you have a boot cd With the cd you can also have utilies that dont fit on floopies.. for more info check out bootdisk.com! hope this helps
Sorry no the cable didn't work.. I think the motherboard just took a dump. and thats where it went, to the dump..
thanks for asking. sorry I didn't reply sooner!
I have a strange problem with a windows me machine, started getting error msg: can not write to c: drive.
Hard drive was a few years old so i just replaced it with a new one, installed it no problem, loaded windows me back on (oem reinstall cd)no problem.. browse the net and download no problem...
I wouldn't try putting that cd or hd back in with the new power supply it sounds like thats what fried the the dell,
by any chance did you try reseting the power supply by moving the voltage switch on the back back n forth ( without power hooked up) to see if it would reset? just a thought...
One other thing you might also check is that maybe it had an onboard modem that needs to be disabled in setup, some older laptops did come with built in modems ?? just a thought
just another thing to check, open device mgr, click on modem then properties, and check that you dont have a conflect with resources, just becuase windows found it
doesn't mean its installed right....good luck!
you can do one of 2 things to fix this 1 flash the system bios, or down load MAX BLAST from the maxtor web site which will get you around the bios problem, good luck
