I use poproute to populate user accounts from external pop3 email accounts. In my case it is only for website email so there is no need for tasks and such. (WHich you cant do through pop3) Don't remember where I got the app, and depending on your needs, its setup can be daunting.

I tried that first. I have tested new mail and the script fires when it deposits it into the public folder. But when I move (or copy) the message to my temp folder (both pst and exchange server) and then move it back to the monitored folder it continues to be a post. Strange.
