Exchange Dial up "Out of Office" problem

Hi When we dial up via our RAS server and go into Outlook (Exchange) if "Out of Office" is on, you obviously get the message "Out of Office is currently switched on. Would you like to switch it off?" If you click "Yes", Outlook just freezes and you cannot get into...

    Microsoft Word 2000

Find and rename any "normal.dot" to "normal.old" and re-open Word. That may cure it. Of course, if it does work, you will have to restore your custom formatting (if any) and autotext from your old normal.dot Rich

    Outlook 98 Default Bullet Style

Hi This seems too easy to post here, but it has stumped me! In Outlook 98 using RTF as the default message format, when using bullets in a mail message, it comes out as a diamond instead of a normal bullet. I know this can be changed by using Word as the editor or using HTML and the stationary...

    Can't print HTML pages

I have a user on Windows 95, Office 97 and IE 5.5 SP2. She cannot print any HTML pages in IE and if an email is sent to her in HTML format, she can't print that either. There are no error messages and nothing happens when you try and print. All other prints are fine. I have re-installed the...

    Folders Permissions

Hi Is there any way of setting the folders permissions in Outlook all in one go rather than right clicking, going to properties, permissions and changing each one sepeartely? It's so annoying! Thanks Rich

W2K Icons not showing full colours

I have the answer myself now (in case anyone is interested!!) We use NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing which is enabled in the taskbar. Amazingly, this interfers with the icons if you change the option to use the maximum colours in the icons. Even if you turn the maximum colours back on, the...

Hangs at applying security policy screen

Did you upgrade the same PC's from NT4 to W2k or was it a fresh install? If you did an upgrade, I would say that was the cause of the problem as I would never trust an upgrade (especially from NT4) to W2k in a business environment. 9 times out of 10, there are problems upgrading like this. I...

W2K Icons not showing full colours

Yes, I know it sounds simple, but this has stumped me! We have spent weeks creating a fantastic image for our company. We are on about the 6th test build at present. I noticed yesterday that the icons on the desktop (especailly the IE icon which should be the IE6 icon, but looks like the IE4...

    Automated "Run As" command

Help! I need to be able to write a batch file (or something else that will do the job) to enable a shortcut to do a "Run As" command. I know you can go to the properties of the shortcut and tick the "Run as a different user" box, but I also need the batch file to...

    NTFS or FAT32? Comments please

Happy to be of service. To save you time, you can download it from here and see what it can do. Never leave home without it! ftp://ftp.allen.ru/pub/NTFS_DOS/NTFSDOS%20Pro%204.0%20Licensed.zip This will allow you to create a bootdisk so you can boot straight into DOS in an NTFS partition.

    NTFS or FAT32? Comments please

I completely agree with the previous post. NTFS though does handle a larger number of files in one folder than FAT32, but FAT32 is generally 10% faster than NTFS. Dan is completely correct about accesing an NTFS partition in DOS (not opening a DOS session in Windows). You cannot boot into DOS...

Switch back to desktop from ScreenSaver

Hi I know I have switched this off before, but I forget how to do it. How do you get XP to switch straight back to your desktop from the ScreenSaver without going to the user profle screen first? Thanks Rich

    Word doc size problem

Hi The first thing I would try is to copy and paste all the text into a new blank document and save it, then see if the page count and MB size has changed. My guess is that it will..... Rich

    Outlook data recovery

Very odd as all the email, contacts, calendar and tasks are saved in the pst file which is automaticlly named mailbox.pst unless you change it. Are you sure you are not missing the correct pst file from your old drive? I know it is a darn stupid question, but it has to be a pst file somewhere...

    Outlook "From Field" help

He couldn't do a second profile as he isn't the owner of the 2nd mailbox (and i don't want him to be either!) but he can easily reply to his own mailbox as the macro will only work when you click on the customised button on his toolbar I have set up. It works a treat!

    Outlook "From Field" help

Thanks. To be honest, the macro I have created works a lot better than I thought it would. I just get them to click a new button on the toolbar (as they would anyway to create the mail) and there it is! Here is the code if anyone wants to do this: Private Sub Command1_Click() Dim myOLApp...
