    Phaser 8400 smearing ink randomly

Ink smears on pages randomly. Is not consistent to particular page being printed, internal or otherwise. Ink is smeared from top to bottom of words or pictures, sometimes worse than others. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks for the links. Are there any other possibilities that could cause this as the customer says these both (SLP and SSDP) have been disabled?

    TEST QUESTION - 8400

When you are going through the diagnostic tests and you get the results and then compare them to the book results, if they are not dead on the same, what are you supposed to do? These tests sometimes leave me frustrated at what to do! Especially if they happen to be blank in the book! What...

    Phaser 8400 error "04,024.45"

Straight out of the book: This fault code indicates a problem with the wiper. After homing the wiper, it asks for it to go to the PARK/LOCK position. If the wiper motion fails during mechanical initialization, to go to the correct position, this fault will occur. 1. Run and check Wiper...

    PHASER 8400

Have a customer with an 8400 and error code 07,007.40. After powering down and back up, I can't get it to do anything out of the ordinary. They say when it happens they power it down and comes right back to the same error code. Anyone with any ideas on this one?

    Xerox 7700

    Phaser 850 paper jam

The problem stemmed from a broken pick guide assembly. Two tabs on the back side were broken off and missing.

    Phaser 850 paper jam

Have a Phaser 850 with several error codes relating to media jam it apparently enjoys. 22,506.06; 22,613.05; 22,508.10; 22,400.08. Paper usually stops barely out of the drawer just to the first flag and it is usually askew there with the right corner higher than the rest of the paper...

Searching Forum for error codes .. how?

Don't know about searching for error codes here, but if your machine is 840, 850, 860, or 8200, because you did not specify, the code according to the manual is: Y-axis print failure. Media did not arrive at the preheat exit sensor soon enough to complete the print. May also be due to an...

PHASER 8400 pulls from wrong tray / ghosting

It has optional 3rd tray. When printing from printer, such as config page or anything else, it prints from tray 3 which is loaded with letterhead. Tray 2 is loaded with plain paper and this is setup correctly in the paper setup section on the front panel. Isn't tray 2 the default tray? Also...

    8200 tray part

So what do you have to do - buy a whole new tray? What's the part number for that? Will parts from the high capacity tray fit the standard tray?

    8200 tray part

Does anyone have the part number for the tray stop at the rear of a standard tray for an 8200?

    PHASER 8400

Same error codes as before (13,008.47; 11,009.46) and same jam codes as before (N7T). In running diags (if doing it right), everything seems to work. Thanks for your efforts.

    PHASER 8400

Customer said was printing okay from tray 1, so I ordered and replaced the process drive assembly and it worked for about 40 pages and then started doing it again. After that the customer stated that they did find it had happened when printing from tray 1 a couple of times. So out with the new...

    PHASER 8400

This printer spits out too many pages according to my customer and she's right. It appears that some pages do not fully exit and for brief instant you can see the red warning light flicker and almost read a jam message before it disappears and the printer ejects that page and then reprints it...
