Coltrane:
This is why I said to use JetAdmin - lpadmin stinks for this type of application - so does admintool - believe me I went through this.
Listen, there are three things going on here: the NIC name (print server); the Print server's name for itself; your name for the printer.
The NIC...
You should have set up the printer first with the lpsystem command before you used the lpadmin command.
Try this:
lpsystem -t bsd printservername(NIC_name)
lpadmin -p your_name_printer -s NIC_name!NIC_name_printer
lpadmin -p your_name_for_printer -T unknown -I any
accept your_name_for_printer...

It the printer NIC a Hp JetDirect card?
Did you set a hostname for the NIC and are you using this name as the printer servername that you setup with lpadmin?? Al
More than likely, the directory dir3 is a link to another (real) directory. When you cd to the link, you get the actual (real) path.
Hope this helps. Al
Not sure of the problem. For one thing, I do know that if you specify the "B" option on the save, you must use the "B" option with the restore. Al
With the mount procedure you are not moving the filesystem
off one disk to another. the data is still on the original disk - you are just changing where it appears to be by changing the mount point.
"cp" or the "find" command works well for moving data. With the find...
Sounds like there is a domain name service a(dns) problem (if you are using dns)- the name of the server you are trying to telnet to is not being resolved to its ip address. /etc/resolve.conf should have the fully qualified domain name as the first line: domain www.company.com. The next...
The best way to add any printer, really, is to use Hp JetAdmin. If you don't have it, you can download it from hp's website. They have a version for many flavors (operating systems) available.
The info provided is very easy to follow if you read it.
The software will go out and verifiy if the...
I think we need to revisit the driver issue. The system does not know what type of device this is (other tape device) so right there we have an issue. Try to configure the tape drive with one of the existing 4mm drivers that should already exist. Use smit (devices,tape...) to change the...
Acosta:
Since your system does not recognize the "tape" parameter of the lsdev command, before you can define a tape drive, you need to determine the SCSI Target id. IS the SCSI card a new install or one that came with the system? Don't you have system documentation?
In any event...
wongyc2K:
You are using rabfv: "a" is only for a table of contents listing from an archive file instead of from the media (dev/rmt/0c). This is not necessary, nor should you put the name of the toc file.
Try using "ufsrestore rbvf 512 /dev/rmt/0c". Put the "f"...
stuart:
Try putting it in the /etc/defaultrouter file - create the file if it does not exist.
Also check to see if the ip name of the gate way was changed even though the address has remained the same.
