Does the show command output include load-sharing information?
I found some links on Cisco.com, but skimming through them didn't yield much in way of results. You may want to search there, and check your instruction manuals :P
I'm doing the IPX section of Semester 3 currently, and am having great difficulty finding the IOS equivelant of Novell's "Token-Ring" encapsulation type. You know how Novell's "Ethernet_802.2" in the IOS is "sap", and "Ethernet_II" is "arpa"? I...
l3stuff: I thought your procedure was simply too short and lacking detail. Not all of us are networkers, and as such we need to essentially hold their hands as they go through stuff. You're right, I don't build the routers, I'm only being trained to configure and troubleshoot them. I was...
I3stuff, you're way off. What you do for password recovery is the following, from a Semester 2 CCNA lab.
1: Be consoled into the router
2: Turn off the router via the power switch, then turn it back on
3: Within 60 seconds, press Control+Break
4: Type o/r 0x42, press Enter
5: Type b, press...
It's only the 806 with multiple Ethernets, and even then, it's only a 10/100 4-port hub. I doubt the 1700 series will be around much longer, they're already starting to retire the 2500. A 2600 series is probably for the best, either an XM or a 2691. I know for sure that the 2691 has a 10/100...
The most comprehensive way you can learn about routers is through the Cisco Networking Academy. Preferably with hands on experience, you can learn to program a router to complete operational capacity within 10 minutes. It wouldn't hurt to buy the CCNA textbooks as well. CCNA is the...
This is quite simple. At the end of any ACL list, there is an implicit "deny any". Anything you don't specifically allow is blocked. Chances are, the port number your company uses to recieve e-mail is blocked. I'm in a proxy situation sometimes, I can recieve but not send. It's...
It's a matter of logic. First of all, all S0 interfaces require a clockrate, as well as any others with a DCE. "no clockrate x" is basically saying "clockrate 0". The reason you can't have a 0 clockrate, is because you're saying 0 bits per second can be transferred. The...
Ahh, the good old RXBOOT trick. Gotta love it. Someone in my group changed all of the enable secrets on our routers to "a", had to reload a few before I tried that :)
I'm assuming you're connecting to your ISP through your S0 interface here. Your ISP probably gave you an IP address to use. That is what you configure. Never duplicate an IP address without using NAT!!! Hope that helped :)
First of all, I'm going to suggest you use something more advanced than a 1601. I'd suggest upgrading to a 2600 Series at the least, and using ACLs (Access Control Lists). You can configure those through Global Configuration Mode, and they are quite handy, and can do pretty much anything. It...
