Is there anyway of finding out which DC has logged a user on. going to each machine and doing 'echo %logonserver%' is gonna take a bit long with 500 machines, especially as when it can change in a couple of seconds, is there anyway of doing it centrally??? cheers all,

as snootalop says, your gonna have fun cracking this one without installing a nt/2k server! you say all the users have roaming profiles, and that they are stored on an AS400...how have you done this, i'm not aware of any such method :) ok, this is nicks brief guide to NT networking each user...

i think the reason that your newly partioned drive couldn't be used was because of the SID (security ID) If you format a drive under 2k or XP it will put that systems SID into the filesystem, so it can be used for protecting ACL resources. so when you try to install a new os it will find an sid...

Strangely, it seems that when the printer is shared using MS file/print sharing the print server (that is the windows box rather than the jet direct) needs to have its parallel port set to “Bi-Directional ECP” mode even though neither the printer, nor anything else is connected to it. Perhaps...

i cant see any reason it should, the two OS's should happily sit side by side with no interaction between them, however it would be easier to install a third party WWW server, than tempt fate by running two Microsoft OS's! ;)

jackals... i'd be very concerend about running a mish-mash of files from different os's to get IIS running!!! if you only want PHP, and MYSQL you could try apache, but if it comes to it you can still run Chilli ASP! http://httpd.apache.org/docs/windows.html
