Hello,
My Mom has a fairly old computer (6 -7 years old, IIRC), the specs of which I cannot remember right this minute (P2 something, 128MB of RAM). She said that twice in the last two weeks, it's given a "System Registry Error" when it's been booting up, then (direct quote from her...
It needs to be charged? Hmmmm... Were both computers plugged into the same place in the wall? You might be having problems with the power coming into the machine. I'm not sure what you can do about that, other than moving the computer to another plug, but it sounds like the damage is already...
Thanks, ya'll. This POC machine is using McAfee, so I'll try all those suggestions.
About the drivers... I think technically it's using HP 5 drivers anyways, but I'll look to see if HP made Windows 95 drivers for the printer.
I'll also try taking the stuff out of the Startup... I've stripped...
I know it's mostly because it's Windows 95 running on a Pentium 200, but this is a temp job computer and I've got to do something to keep it from crashing all the time.
Periodically when I'm trying to print to an HP Laserjet 4000 over a Microsoft network, the spool with grab all the pags and...
Bad betteries? The clock problem says it might be that.
The power button is loose or not hitting the connection properly? The weird way you can punch the button to have it reboot says it might be that.

From Dad...
1. I do have network adapters in both machines.
2. I have a crossover cable, but have not been able to get them to recognize each other. They both say there is something connected, but cannot communicate. I found some indication on the Microsoft website that says Windows does not...
My dad has a Windows 2000 desktop and an ancient Windows 95 laptop. He would like to connect them so that he can transfer data back and forth. I believe that when he tried to directly connect them, the desktop would see the laptop, but not the other way around. Would a hub solve this problem...
Do you have the icons to see your Internet connection in the system tray?
If you do, can you still see the Internet connection working? Can you browse elsewhere on the Internet while that is up? Jennifer Sigman

Try drivers... make sure all your hardware drivers are up-to-date. Also, make sure the fan inside the case is running correctly. That's where I would start. Jennifer Sigman

I've seen it done both ways. On this machine, the burner is the master on IDE two, but on my friend's machine, it's the slave on IDE1. So pick yer poison. Jennifer Sigman

As I have mentioned before, one time when I downloaded the latest drivers from somewhere, I had problems because they were badly written or whatever. IT CAN HAPPEN. Do you have a slightly older version of the drivers to try? Jennifer Sigman

Bad video card drivers could make it not be able to handle anything.
The computer usually has no idea what size the monitor is. Jennifer Sigman

I don't think the monitor itself would care much about the resolution... the video card would, since it's doing the work. Jennifer Sigman
